  • If you sand it, at all, sander often 'falls into' the joint and leaves a subtle trench. TBF I did have one wall last month that I had to revisit as wall had a light below it and stood out quite badly.
    Using a sander with a large diameter (10"+) and fine grit only (240+) and it won't happen.

  • Learning to fill so there’s a high point in the middle of the joint definitely helped me when sanding too.
    And then depending on how long it’s dried for makes a massive difference. Sand too soon and it’s like marshmallow, but leave it to fully cure and it seems to go mega hard and you risk sanding through the paper either side of the joint when trying to level it.

    In a funny way I actually miss doing it. Spent that bloody long getting good at it, and now it’s not needed in my new job.
