Piastri for mclaren it is then!

So Gasly to Alpine, demote Perez and put Daniel back in a RB!

Would be great to see Ricciardo at the front again but I can't see it. With Perez likely being in that seat for a few seasons I wouldn't be surprised if Gasly went to Alpine to be fair.
My prediction is Schumacher to Alpine (though it'd be good to see Pourchaire get a promotion), Ricciardo to take a massive pay cut and go to Haas.
No idea who's taking Latifi's seat at Williams though.

Marko already more or less said that Gasly will never drive for RB; he had his chance and failed as far as the big team is concerned. I think he’s kept around as a spare just in case and that they are ready for him to leave means they think they have enough options.

If Perez was to take a seat elsewhere next season (obviously very unlikely) I genuinely think Gasly would be top contender for the seat. I'm not quite sure why he's still at Alpha Tauri if that's genuinely their test bed for RB candidates. There's plenty of talent in the RB ranks in F2/3, but they're currently blocked by Tsunoda/Gasly.
Probably best for everyone (aside from Schumacher and Ocon) if Gasly moves to Alpine

Give Schumacher a season or two at Alpha Tauri maybe? With Porsche in the wings, if he turns out to be good and they can have Mick in the main team in 2026 with a German engine, it'd be a big PR coup.

This would have to be an uncomfortable read for Alpine management

• #9285
As much as I was optimistic to see Mick do well in F1, so far he's nowhere near getting a top seat, even if largely for PR reasons. Kind of expecting him to hang around for a few seasons in a mid-tier car before dropping off.
Think I'd rather bet on Hulkenberg being the F1 face of Porsche at this point! On that note, it'll be weird to have so few German drivers on the field next season (just 1 as it stands I think). A far cry from these days:

They've certainly got form in that regard: https://www.skysports.com/f1/news/12473/12518832/alain-prost-leaves-alpine-f1-world-champion-criticises-team-as-he-exits-advisory-role-amid-restructure

I pretty much agree. Usually his first season in a category isn't great, but with the Haas being so bad last year and new regulations this year, it's possible his development stage is longer. He may get one more season to prove himself but if not, he'll be out.

Nice of Ferrari to give sainz enough time to make a cuppa during that pit stop.

How do you forget a tyre?

Even when I'm expecting the fuckups, they're still able to surprise me
-
• #9291
Vettel going easy on Schumacher to make him look good?
-
• #9292
Can not fucking wait to be able to get F1TV, Ted Kravitz and David Croft can be utterly unbearable to listen to at times.
-
• #9293
Sainz undertaking under yellow. Ferrari really doing the best to fuck this up as usual.
-
• #9294
I'm all for Ferrari-bashing, but that was all on Sainz.
Though Ferrari back on form with that release. Damn tricky exit to be fair
-
• #9295
He’s not a Ferrari driver?
I must have missed that driver change this week.
-
• #9296
It’s ok though that unsafe release is surely allowed under bashing Ferrari rule 1, right?
-
• #9297
Given the majority of the discourse around Ferrari talking about how the drivers are being screwed by Ferrari anyone without an inclination to be contrary for the sake of it could understand what I'm saying.
-
• #9298
Damn fine move by Verstappen there, was not expecting that. Merc taking a leaf out of Ferrari's (the strategists that is, not the drivers, engineers, PR team etc.) book? Terrible call to let Russell come in there
-
• #9299
Or terrible to leave Hamilton out given how much better drive everyone on the softs seems to have. Floundering currently and doesn’t sound too chirpy…
-
• #9300
I honestly have no idea what you’re on about.
Between sand traps, spins and shit strategy, Ferrari (capital F, team, inc drivers) continue to fuck up.
I’m absolutely not being contrary when I say that includes the drivers in the fucking cars.
I thought that Alpine had an option on Piastri that expired on the 31st July. They didn't take the option so he signed for McLaren the next day.
Again, it's all just speculation until the decision is made.
