Lolz - the Festival of Brexit/Uboxed has attracted 238,000 visitors so far.
They had a target of 66,000,000.A parable for our times.

Wait, they have a target of nearly the population of the UK?
-
• #76929
I think they expected 'true believers' to visit multiple times to boost the stats. Plus some of the foreigners they have very successfully alienated with their shit-strewn rhetoric...

At a cost of over £500 per visitor to stage / subsidise
Shameful waste of tax revenue -

I wouldn't have gone had I known, but I had no idea this was even running, yet apparently it's going since March.
66m is ridiculous though if true, must have taken some serious big-4 Consultants to come up with. That's the entire UK popluation. I just looked it up for the schadenfreude, it's c.ten times the number of people who'll go to Disneyland Paris in the same period.

They have the Dreamachine here, but it is linked with the NI Science Fest, which is always popular. Tried to get tickets but not many left, it looks that part of the festival is working.
But again...they are linking up with the right local people and teams here.
I feel bad for the artists and the organizer, a local organizer explained it has f-all to do with Brexit here but it got tainted by the association :(

ut it's a news thread. What has Corbyn and his fans at glasto got to do with how Starmer can beat Truss at the GE? The secret tory is you, trying to wreck Labour's chances at the next election by droning on with the disastrous student politics of another era.
Boom.

Why California wants to give residents $1,000 not to have a car
-
• #76940
but they already saved tens of thousands by not getting one...?
-
• #76941
I'm saving millions not having a private jet, wouldn't mind a grand though.

Imagine the outrage in the UK if taxpayers money was squandered paying hippies to be hippies

Presumably you will still be allowed your work vehicle/truck/massive blinged up pickup

In more than 50 years on this planet, I've never driven (legally) and only flown twice.
I figure I'm due some Californication.
It's west, right?

a vw camper isn't a car right?
Haha. VW campers are the apex predator of the greenwashed cuddly face of planet killing

Not canal boats?
-
• #76947
Good call. Canal boats pump out the dirtiest pollution for sure, but I think the ecological damage caused by vehicles travelling to remote places (think noise pollution affecting birds, roads being barriers to the natural movement of fauna, the massive wasteland of infrastructure required to drive the cunting things) combined with the misty eyed belief of the occupants they are communing with nature AND all the CO2, and there's a higher volume of them, puts them at the top of the shit pile. People burning solid fuel on canals in cities are mostly just killing each other. It's wild it's still legal considering its so deadly. https://www.bhf.org.uk/what-we-do/news-from-the-bhf/news-archive/2020/march/open-fires-wood-burners-bad-health

We use the vdub camper to go to the Chilterns once every 2 or 3 months.
Never drive it in town. We haz bikes for that.
Where are we on the shit pile?

Another pair of government sex pests (allegedly). Cabinet minister and a senior no10 aide…
Nobody is the least bit surprised.

From the article
Americans annually drive a total of 3 trillion miles.
Holy shit
Not sure why you're being so pissy with me!
Solar installations generate lots or RFI. That is unarguable. I think we both agree on that, dont we? If not, google it. You will find thousands of radio amateurs and even some scientific institutions observing it and complaining about it.
I'm curious as to why using chokes won't reduce the problem in specific cases (I use them to good effect on a regular basis in similar applications) but lets not bog down this thread...would be genuinely interested to see your explanation of why their bodges won't help...PM me. Your opinion goes against the opinion of many others and I'm curious to know if you know something I don't.
As for EMI)RFI certification, ~30% of devices have fake certification Those that do comply still emit RFI in safe amounts, just very inconvenient levels for some niche interest people. I can pick up a Tesla charger from 75m on an SDR spectrogram.
Edit: Here's a Radio Society of Great Britain article from 2020 explaining how to suppress solar installation interference using chokes.
Anyway, I only mentioned it because I reckon that its only a matter of time before we start hearing bullshit claims that this RFI is harmful.
