• Not true. That resolution is just over 300Mhz bandwidth, meaning a HDMI1.4 port will suffice with reduced blanking, let alone HDMI2.0.

    That monitor is sending a funky EDID, use Better Display to fix.

  • no idea, I never use HDMI as it’s not the best option for my monitor working in 16bit etc.
    the specs say yes with caveats (30 hz not 60 or not full colour 4:2:0) only 2.0 or 2.1 do everything

  • So using an HDMI2.0 I can't get the max res or any 21:9 aspect ratio to work - even with Better Display.
    Using a display port cable direct to the mac works fine. So it looks like the dock is the weak link. Are there any other options that'd allow me to charge and send the video signal through a single cable?
