Ha. I have no idea where my eye obsession comes from, I just like them.
Into that illustration though.

How have you found the "black" Montana paint? It's a higher pressure paint can than the "gold" paint they do. Does it make it harder to spray with?
Also, how're you cutting the vinyl?

Really not sure how to mask between the top tube and bottom bracket to be able to paint the seat tube pink. The bike paint job I based it on is lugged, so it gives it an easy edge to change paint colours / designs.
Any suggestions?
I’m thinking I could do a fade, then splatter some black and white onto the pink, and a little bit of pink onto the black/white.

I think bike cad lets you print out tube cutting profiles on paper.. Maybe you could do something similar, but cut in vinyl?
I'd be happy to provide you with a vector/dxf file if you decide on a profile for the masking.

Hmm. That might work. I’ll have a play around tomorrow.
EDIT: I could probably use the image above to make a stencil.

You could probably handcut something like this as well.

looking great so far!
I'd be tempted to do a straight line a couple of inches up from the BB interface rather than faked lugs. I reckon it would look visually cleaner (and easier to mask as well)
guess it depends on how far up the seat tube the black/white paint job goes? -

Yeah, I don’t mind plotting it out in vinyl. It’s so easy to do.

It goes up / down about 10-15cm from the top tube / bottom bracket junctions.

I also really like the work of Kazumasa Nagai.

I think a single slant line might look nice - especially if it is mirrored at the top.

That could work too.
I have a few things I can try now.
I’d really like to get it painted tomorrow and then let it cure for a few days so I can clear coat it before the weekend.

Nice. His animals series is awesome.

Might have gotten a bit carried away with the paint on the stem.

Tax return came in today, so did a bit of shopping for the last few parts.
Brooks c17 and an Izumi black and silver chain ordered. I also had to buy new mounting bolts for the v-brakes. I was wondering why I only had three, then I remembered I snapped one off in the Paconi like 6 years ago, so I ordered 4 more. Also had to order noodles and boots for the brakes because they’ve gone MIA in the last few years. I also had a quick look for matching silver v-brake arms so I could do half black and half silver, but no dice.

You could paint the relevant brake arms white?

First layer of pink down. Had an idea about masking the between the colours earlier today, so hopefully that works.
Now I just need to cut the vinyl for the eye pattern on the seat tube and do a few more coats of the pink.
