I stand to be corrected, but I think your dates may be awry.
-
• #27605
Depends what you take as the starting point but I think oat is right for the official opening.
It won't last long. See you all there tomorrow! -
• #27606
No. It's me. I can't count.

OLD: Alexandre Palace. I assume "Since 1863 Alexandra Park has offered a welcome escape for the population of London living in a rapidly expanding and overcrowded industrial city. On 24th May 1873 the opening was a roaring success ".

I couldn't see a bike in oat's tag (rule no.1) until I super enlarged it.
Ask for a clue if you can't locate the new one. -
• #27612
This looks very different from the previous tag and if the previous is where I think it is then it's about 1km apart and I thought it was tagging something else that opened in 1873.
-
• #27613
You might well be right, I couldn't find that exact view. Oat will be sobering up about now and be along to let us know.
-
• #27614
If the one you are thinking of is the one I am thinking of, and that's the one oat was thinking off when he set off, then it's been tagged before a couple of times at different points on it. But if oat was thinking of somewhere else and I am thinking of the wrong place and that's not even the place you are thinking of then we will have to think again.

The palace itself wasn't the tag.

• #27616
The date is correct as far as I can see. This closed soon after it first opened.

This closed soon after it first opened.
In 1951?

I would guess we have narrowed it down to the MR but where you took the pic from is eluding me.
-
• #27619
Well I'm totally confused by the last page or so. Which picture is the current active tag?
-
• #27620
Unless the Geneva committee rule otherwise overnight, oat's tag still stands.

• #27621
Isn't this BToB meant to be fun?
-
• #27622
There's nothing in the rules about fun.

I got home and realised none of the pics showed everything I wanted, and, as it was quite a tricky photo to take, I didn't fancy going back and doing it all again!

I think I've identified the lead flashing on Streetview. Should be able to get to it tomorrow morning and see if I'm right or not.

extra pics - I would not advise recreating the original pic :)

It's a park with a bowling green and a good view of nearby high rises.
