    We'll have to agree to disagree there. You're welcome to pick your trading partners based on which units they are willing to use, but it's not the government's business to dictate.

    There’s a reason we have consumer protection - because it makes it harder for people to get mugged off by shops and businesses. Standardising measures is a part of that, and seems pretty reasonable that it would be something the government can dictate.
