Oh yeah, they're very different.
I still find the inventory in NMS annoying, and the flight is arcade-like, but there's never any shortage of stuff to do and see.
Elite is less arcadey and more like a flight sim (although less complex and with a bunch of gameplay concessions). It definitely requires more of an effort to get to grips with it.

Yeah I really enjoyed NMS but just slipped off playing it and have been playing other stuff instead.
I really wish that X4 was available on xbox as X3 Reunion and X3 Terran Conflict are two of my favourite games. Didn't like Rebirth but from what I've seen of X4 I think I'd enjoy it.
It's why I want to give Elite another go as I think that will be as close as I can get to something like the X series for now.

Just so you're aware, they've paused development on consoles of the latest update. I think they've been having trouble getting it to work acceptably on current gen hardware (or maybe they just don't have the manpower to optimize it on XBox & PS as well as PC).
I think you'll be able to keep playing the current version on console, and should be able to copy your save to PC (for free, and keep the console one) some time in September if you have a PC and decide you want the upgrade.

It's a real shame that game doesn't support mods; they tolerate them but don't expose any kind of API that mods could work with to provide in-game quality-of-life improvements. If it did, people would be writing mods to assist with inventory and storage management. And to track which plants/animals/rocks contain which substances. And to remember settlement/camp locations so you could plot routes back to them. And...

Ah well that’s a spanner in the works. Think I’ll still have a look at it sometime to give it a proper go again and see how I get on.

Anyone got any reccomedations for flashcarts or similar for a GBA? Brought my GBA back from home when I was last up and have been playing Pokemon Yellow as that was the cartridge in there. Going on holiday November with quite long flights and fancy taking a bunch of games with the GBA to play. Had been looking at a classic multicart as didn't know about flashcarts but intrigued if they're any good or if people think they're a bit naff?

Managed a successful joy-con repair for my son's Switch. Not that complicated. But fiddly and pushing hard at the limits of my close vision. Next time will get one of those watchmaker loupe headset things. JFC I'm old.
Also picked up Titanfall 2 on a whim. It's early and not bad, but combat is a bit same-y and the guns are not easy to tell apart and the interesting ones don't show up enough for constant use with ammo. Not sure there is enough nuance in the Titan fights but I am getting the hang of the wall running. I'm sticking with it so far.

I remember the Titanfall 2 campaign being really really good! Its short but there's a few levels in there that are amazing!

Looking forward to playing this on Gamepass when I get home!

I've been eyeing up that but finally got round to starting a plague tale before the new one is out and enjoying it.

Plague tale is good, solid story. Not much variety in gameplay, but I really enjoyed a tight story driven game.

Yeah, I get a bit lost in open world stuff sometimes, end up getting bored doing all the side quests and procrastinating the main story, then giving up. I quite liked a good story on rails

Sort of 2D side-scroller version of Deus Ex. Definitely has some issues around combat difficulty in the early game, but worth checking out.

How did the Gamepass 3x12 months work? Mine expires in a month and looking to buy a series X so gamepass is sort of a must
-
• #27295
Does it work if you’ve done the upgrade before?
-
• #27296
Oh Jesus....
Easiest , I'd say go to CDKeys but if I was to do it again, easiest for the most buy UK for cheap. Follow previous advice. Do it once you're current expired. Buy 36 months. Convert for Ultimate.
If you dare, the cheapest option is to buy for Brazil. But I can honestly say it was luck mine worked. And a lot of stress and and and. And the cost save from buying UK and Brazil wasn't that much diff if you split it over 3 years.

I don’t think it does but I can’t say for certain. It might be that it becomes available again after a certain amount of time since you last redeemed it though.

Brother bought an EZ-Flash Omega at the start of Covid and still uses it with no issues at all.
Everdrive is another that I'm thinking of picking up for a new commute that's going to give me a decent chunk of time to sit and play through something.
-
• #27299
Yeah i went with and EZ-Flash Omega so just waiting for it to arrive. I had seen the Everdrive but after posting here I did a bit of research online and didn’t seem worth the extra money for what I’m after. Think I’ll just need to keep an eye on battery life.

Nothing in my library is particularly appealing right now: any suggestions?
Or if anyone is up for some co-op I wouldn't mind having another crack at GTFO, Ground Branch, Zero Hour or Deep Rock Galactic.

It was mostly just a bit daunting I think and I didn't give it enough time to get anywhere with it. Another problem was I installed Elite Dangerous and No Mans Sky at the same time and was trying to play both so it was more that I could never remember the controls or mechanics properly rather than not getting on with them.
