Assos Mille jacket - they’re available in different weights (mine is “Spring/Fall”). When it’s not deep winter, but cold, I combine it with varying thickness jerseys underneath depending on temperature.
Genuinely the best couple hundred quid I’ve spent, when it comes to cycling clothes. It’s barely off my back between October and April.

I had one, wore it once and got cold shoulders gave it back (long story involving doing some work via a third party for the Assos store) never got round to changing it for the winter weight one. I might see if my friend still has it and try it with the brevet underneath.
He did say at the time to try it with a winter weight assos base layer but i have loads of rapha merino and didn’t want to buy synthetic.
What do i want to wear over my brevet insulated jacket?
the issues i have are shoulders and knees which feel the cold and once get cold stay cold, if i layer up with bib longs and longs over the top i end up with too many layers and overheat my core, but think i have solved the lower half issue as i have some Pearl izumi wind/waterproof longs to go over some lighter weight sportful bibtights that don’t have much fabric over the middle. if it’s a bit warmer then decent bibtights do the job on their own.
The Brevet jacket works great over the shoulders and i can feel there is a layer of air doing it’s insulation thing. i have various windshells and a couple of heavier soft shells (castelli Mortirolo) but i want some kind of stretchy jacket that will breathe, be wind/shower proof but not a full on hardshell.
does such a thing exist? not a noisy rain thing that’s boil in the bag and not a long sleeve jersey as i have those too.
doesn’t have to be Rapha and if it’s in the sale even better.
