  • I would drop the levers a bit, I think. But if this is comfortable for you, go for it.

  • Agreed. Bars look good. Hoods down

  • What's the rack? More importantly, the fixings that mount to the forks/rack legs...are those standard with the rack or extras and can you buy them separately? Z

  • cool. even though they felt ok, I did think they were probably a bit high...I'll rotate down a couple of degrees.

@Josh it's a pelago commuter rack and comes with three different ends to suit multiple setups. this one's the medium so fits nicely between the drops. the blb basket is attached with some velcro tape so it's easy to remove when I need to.

  • I'm retaping my bars and this BDHU things has wormed its way into my brain and is making me paranoid. This thread has loads of examples of bad BDHU vibes, but does @Hulsroy have a folder of BDHU nirvana examples? Feel like I need something to aim for

  • Depends on the bar and levers I'd say.
How about setting them up as you like and then take some photos of it with a full shot of the bike without too much wide angle and some horizontal lines as a backdrop so it is easy to judge for us? I often take pictures to then study them and make corrections. Sometimes that makes it easier to see.

And just to be clear. This is not about looking a specific way, it's about placing components for optimum control and comfort = good looking setup

  • Cheers @Hulsroy. And totally agree on comfort being the goal. Think I've got this in a good place now - the bars have dents for the heel of the hand which now transition nicely into the goods. Was kinda uncomfortable before with the hoods a few mm lower

  • That looks totally acceptable.

    Nice bike as well 👍

  • Thanks on both counts! Am definitely a BDHU convert (and also a massive fan of your framebuilding/engineering thread)

  • Thanks man 😊

  • I’ve just ploughed through all 30 pages of this thread in one hit having never looked before, I’d seen the term bandied about on here once or twice but never thought any more of it.

I’d like to thank @Hulsroy for doing such valuable and no doubt emotionally charged work bringing this simple philosophy to the great unwashed masses.

I’ve not owned a bike with drops for years but still hang my head in shame knowing in my youth I was a repeat offender across all disciplines.

Chapeau to everyone who’s taken the advice on board and now leading happier, healthier lives because of it.

  • I am out
