We were this close to pulling the trigger on that N70. Went to play with one hands on and it was a bit meh. Played with a Siemens one (similar zone setup to the Neff, EX975LVV1E) and it was really good. It's what we went with in the end.

I specifically got the neff without the spinning disc thing. Too many accounts of them being lost or broken. Have been v v happy with our neff induction hob.
I have never noticed a lag in the adjustments, it is super responsive. Occasionally wet hands are an issue but I generally wear an apron when cooking so can dry them (and should dry them after washing anyway!)

Elica is another brand to look at.
The Bora’s get really terrific reviews. If I only needed an induction hob they are what I’d go for. Unfortunately induction doesn’t deliver the wok hei required so will have to go for gas or gas/induction combination

For wok hei you really need the flames licking around the rim of the wok. Do any domestic gas hobs actually achieve that?
Guess you could use a tiny wok 🤪

What about a standalone induction wok unit?
Surely it's no different to having all the other kitchen gadgets (rice cooker, magimix etc...)

Hadn't come across Elica before, thanks! More competitively priced than Bora/Gagg, similar to B/S/N, do you know what they are like? Couldn't find much online except Which? who slate them for not meeting safety regs (now resolved)

Just got a new washing machine and have a realisation that I have no understanding of how plumbing works. So dumb question ahead.
The drain hose from the back of the machine is going out into the standpipe, am I meant to attach the hose to the hook on the back of the machine so the hose sits higher than the drum to ensure all the waste water flushes out? A bit of string in the pic for an example of what I mean. Or is it meant to hang down freely?
Feel like there’s remnants of advice in my memory somewhere to make sure you do something so water doesn’t siphon back into the machine.
Teach me LFGSS!

Hooks are mostly just for guiding the pipe and making sure it doesn't crush/kink behind the machine. Your manual will tell you how much higher than the outlet waste water can be pumped but it's probably higher than you think.

Ah ok, thanks! I was overthinking it then.

I tape the pipe to the outlet just to make sure it stays put when sliding the washer back in place, not sure if you are meant to though lol

Anyone replaced the seal on a washing machine? Specifically a Beko washing machine (I know, father forgive me, I have sinned etc.) I've found the right seal online for £40 but a local company has quoted me £40 for the seal and then £60 to fit. The machine cost £200 so I'm loath to throw half its value at it if I can fit the seal myself. Then again is £60 worth me not getting increasingly irate and gammon-faced about my inability to fit another seal (and also not have to flip the thing over to retrieve a child's sock form the pump every second week). I'll likely youtube this shortly but any input/advice gratefully recieved.

Sorry can’t help on the seal but these mesh bags will take care of the child socks clogging the machine

Anyone replaced the seal on a washing machine?
Do you mean the door seal? I take the seal off ours every few months so that I can clean it properly. It's a fiddle, but very doable.

Anyone replaced the seal on a washing machine?
Yes, a couple of times. It's a bit of a fiddle but not too tricky. A YouTube video for close to your model will help a lot.

I replaced the door seal on a Hotpoint washer I inherited with the house. Had to dismantle half the front of the thing, but it wasn’t anything that needed any skill, just patience

It's a fiddle
bit of a fiddle
just patienceI’ll be honest, it’s not looking great for me here.
Thanks for the advice, though. I’ll head to YouTube and make a call.

My Samsung one is held on with a wire hoop with a spring on it for tension. Just needs unclipping then everything comes off easily. It needs a couple of pliers to reconnect and is fiddly cos of the tension but it's not hard
-

Just to say, cheers for the recommendation. After having to flip the machine over twice in one day to remove a child’s sock we decided these bags would be a useful stop gap while we decide what to do about the seal.

From memory the Bora professional is going to be £5k+
This was my original choice a couple of years ago, that was until we went through the itemised bill and I wondered what the hell the £4.5k appliance was…bear in mind you need to include all of the additional extraction kit etc…I’d imagine now it’s an easy 5k job. Also don’t forget the additional unit frontage to house the dials and you’d prob rule out at least a drawer below the unit to account for the ducting.
Went with the Pure in the end, I think it’s great. Also got a blue inlet nozzle to match the blue walls.
Still need a tea towel for wet fingers…it works but can be a bit of a PIA

Thanks.
After going to the showroom I was impressed by the classic which doesn't have the physical controls but the touch was very responsive. The deal breaker over the pure was they both have the motor in the plinth/bottom and a silencer in the air duct between.
I estimate the professional, classic and pure X to be £7,6 and 4k respectively with the ducting to the outside.... Painful

My 2m old Miele dishwasher has throw and error code F70.
Not particularly happy.

Can anyone translate what I'm supposed to do with this rubber mat on my new dishwasher please?

If it is like our neff dishwasher it goes by the kick plate and the cut out is for the illuminated floor projection that shows time to cycle finish etc.
There's no lag on my AEG touch controls. Not bad with wet hands either
