For whats its worth, I've had the same RaceFace bsa30 bb on my mountain bike for over two years, two summers worth of uplift riding and two stinky Scottish winters and its still fine. I reckon I'll get it through this winter before replacing it.
I'd heard about the smaller size ball bearings not really being ideal, but in use it hasn't really been a problem.

So am I correct to understand that the advantage of bsa30 is that the bearings are generic and interchangeable instead of having to change out the whole bb as per GXP?
Interesting. The GXP BBs aren't as cheap and cheerful as the Shimano ones, and changing them out becomes costly over time.
I seemed to remember that shoving a 30mm axle in a threaded frame was pushing it, and the corresponding bearings becoming too small. But if tester says it's fine, then it's fine.
