  • Is BSA30 a good or a bad idea? Better or worse then GXP?

  • Is BSA30 a good or a bad idea?

From a pedantic point of view, it's a terrible idea because there's no such thing as a BSA thread. Technically, it's just 386EVO with threaded cups, and exactly the same as the Zipp Vuma cranks from 15 years ago, which work fine. The bearing cartridges are BB30 (6806), so you can take your pick from generic industrial ones to full #tartmode bike company versions according to taste.

  • Ha! I hoped you'ld answer..
    There's this though:

So am I correct to understand that the advantage of bsa30 is that the bearings are generic and interchangeable instead of having to change out the whole bb as per GXP?
Interesting. The GXP BBs aren't as cheap and cheerful as the Shimano ones, and changing them out becomes costly over time.
I seemed to remember that shoving a 30mm axle in a threaded frame was pushing it, and the corresponding bearings becoming too small. But if tester says it's fine, then it's fine.
    Still dithering though
