  • Any advice on dynamo wires :/, much appreciated
I have tried youtube and google but have found it a bit overwheming.

Having never moved my supernova light for years, it's now going on another bike.
And so I need to extend its wires to get to the new dynamo (and also to extend the wiring for the rear light)
It's an E3 triple 2 - to Son hub, (I see they still refuse to do numbered or diagram instructions), what wire and connectors will work?

I've also got a new igaro - My previous one went through a pair of shared pair spade connectors with the supernova. Igaro have sent piggy back ones - anyone have any preference (tempted to just have the single pair, as less to go wrong)?

Many many thanks if you can open up this world of confusion to me...

  • I’ve had to do similar recently for a Brompton, and used some SON dual core cables (similar to hi fi speaker cable) and just matched the colours between the bits I extended. My supernova cables were red/blue and I just matched them through (and assumed supernova used the same colours for each terminal…)

I’ve never worried about positive/negative to the hub however on SON or shimano hubs, just made sure the contacts are good

  • Almost any 2-core wire will work fine for a dynamo. The cheapest will probably be whats called bell wire or bell cable. Otherwise look for thin speaker cable.
