That's a pair of trousers, hence 2 holes

Is there a decent but not too expensive (£20-30?) headtorch that takes 18650 cells?
-
• #113930
It's a bit more and currently sold out but otherwise...

That’s a good shout tbh. That’s a great battery life from a single cell.

I like the look of this, but £65 is big dollar. -

Why does this Look 785 Huez RS frame not have a recessed insert for the rear caliper?

I have one of these

It's good, although I'd say it's maybe more of a DIY headtorch than a running one. -
• #113934
It's easier to manufacture?
It will only be the shoulder of the bolt that will stick out a bit right? -
• #113935
It’s actually for working. I broke my expensive black diamond one having it on my hardhat permanently. Keen for a metal one.
-
• #113936
Yeah I guess so, never seen it before on other Look frames I've either had or have.
-
• #113937
looks like it is - might need a thinner nut?
-
• #113938
I'd say it would be decent for that. Seems pretty tough and has a magnetic base which is always useful.
Can buy it cheaper direct but I couldn't get their website to allow me to register when I tried

Yeah I reckon so. Have you got a link to this full build?

I have a couple of things that don't work with USB C PD for charging. They will charge with a USB to USB C cable but not USB C to USB C plugged into a PD charger.
Are there any adapters out there that will strip out the PD part of the signal (or however it works) so I can still charge without an extra cable and power adapter?

Is BSA30 a good or a bad idea? Better or worse then GXP?
-
• #113942
My trousers have got more than 3 holes.

Is BSA30 a good or a bad idea?
From a pedantic point of view, it's a terrible idea because there's no such thing as a BSA thread. Technically, it's just 386EVO with threaded cups, and exactly the same as the Zipp Vuma cranks from 15 years ago, which work fine. The bearing cartridges are BB30 (6806), so you can take your pick from generic industrial ones to full #tartmode bike company versions according to taste.

Ha! I hoped you'ld answer..
There's this though:
So am I correct to understand that the advantage of bsa30 is that the bearings are generic and interchangeable instead of having to change out the whole bb as per GXP?
Interesting. The GXP BBs aren't as cheap and cheerful as the Shimano ones, and changing them out becomes costly over time.
I seemed to remember that shoving a 30mm axle in a threaded frame was pushing it, and the corresponding bearings becoming too small. But if tester says it's fine, then it's fine.
Still dithering though -

You're not putting the bearings inside the shell, they're in overhanging cups the same as HT2/GXP/UltraTorque, with an 86mm long axle. There's enough room in a 1.37" BSC threaded shell for the cup spigots and the axle.
The thing which doesn't work is trying to put a 68mm long 30mm axle into a 68mm×1.37" shell, because that only leaves a radial clearance between the shell thread ID and the axle OD of <2mm to accommodate the cups and bearings. -

For whats its worth, I've had the same RaceFace bsa30 bb on my mountain bike for over two years, two summers worth of uplift riding and two stinky Scottish winters and its still fine. I reckon I'll get it through this winter before replacing it.
I'd heard about the smaller size ball bearings not really being ideal, but in use it hasn't really been a problem. -

Thanks for the comments gents. I went and done it already and bought a rotor BSA30 bb.
Bought a SRAM bb30 crank locally over the weekend and not being overly enthusiastic about GXP longevity i'ld thought i'ld give bb30 a shot.
SRAM still makes very beautiful 5 arm cranks for the money (now on 3 rival cranks and a force-set). -

I helped a friend fund an illustrated children's book and as a result have ended up with 10 copies.
He wrote it to try to address the low proportion of women working in tech and engineering.
Can anybody suggest a childrens book club, school, library or christmas present exchange that I could donate them to?
Still one?
