  • I read somewhere that it's hardened to 58/59. Handy.

Has Sporting Cutlery offered you a price for your collection? I think I can see about 20 knives in your pics

  • This one is already in the UK. Stourbridge.

  • I think this forum is all cutting chives less about knives

  • Sporting cutlery only offering to sell but for serious commission rather than buying outright. Tbh thought I would sell the bloody nice knives ferrum forge, Boker and featherstone durber but no takers.

  • I’ve got a Falkniven U2 which was s apparently hardened to HRC62 I can’t tell much difference over “softer” steels.

  • Nearly all. I don't cook much. I've got a Rockstead Tei, a couple of bayonets, a folding RAF machete, a RAF firefighter's axe, a Spanish army survival machete and a de-Nazified Hitler Youth knife.

I think some of the buyers of Japanese kitchen knives are like my brother, i.e. don't want to spend time in the kitchen, but want to buy a really well made knife, preferably without violent connotations. Knives are fascinating.May as well admit it. Doesn't necessarily mean we want to stab anyone.

  • Yep, it's me again, your least favourite purveyor of advice.

    Buuuuuutttttt.....

If you really want to sell those knives, you need to detail each one of them. With pictures and prices.

By just putting up such a vague and generic group ad, with no prices and a "contact me for details" instruction you are going to put off a high proportion of potential buyers.

As a double downside, one class of irritant that you won't be deterring is the time wasting twat who would have emailed you anyway, with no intention of actually buying.

Make it easy for someone to hit the buy button and you'll probably have more luck.

Hell, who here hasn't made an ill remembered midnight boozy purchase?

  • Haha no I appreciate the advice but also I’m not depriving the family of food off the back of some blade sales.
If you see anything you can ask a question. No problem - it’s pretty clear to the trained eye what’s worth a look.
I have agreed to sell the featherstone & durber knife that started all this to a forum member but the money hasn’t cleared yet.
The TWT time wasting twat probably wouldn’t be on this forum so there’s a start.

  • Hell, who here hasn't made an ill remembered midnight boozy purchase?

Not me. Hold on, there’s someone at the door. With a package. For me. Huh.

  • I once drunk bought an expensive guitar pedal that probably (definitely) shouldn’t have, given the finances at the time. When it arrived, Overcome by hungover buyer’s regret, put it away, still in the box and totally forgot about it. Found it in a drawer over a year later. It was like magic!

  • Doughnut start that up again!

Kalashnikov? Not exactly what springs to mind for that particular brand.

  • I'm on Paris currently, and our AirBnB is round the corner from this place:

    https://couteaux-courty.com/en/

I shall be frequenting it tomorrow, for sure.

  • I hope you’ve got deep pockets

  • There are few knife places, if you want a heads up message me.

  • Yeah, having looked in more depth I see that you a quite right.

Less Opinel and more "O my fucking god, how much????"

I've changed plans and will be heading to a different place on the Isle St Louis instead.

  • Well i just had to look that up. Boker makes lots of Kalashnikov knives, but they're just a homage to the General. His involvement was to visit the factory once. And to collect a cheque I suppose. There's a blizzard of different models, including the Hot Dog Warrior, the Salad Warrior, the Pizza Warrior, the Taco Warrior, and the Frozen Dessert Warrior. https://www.bladehq.com/item--Boker-Kalashnikov-Warrior-Buffet--142783

  • Honourable mention to the Ka-bar ice cream scoop too.

  • Anyone know of any active forums for buying/selling knives? I used to be on British Blades until it closed and have ended up with quite a few knives that I’ve never used and likely never will …

  • If you’re on Facebook there’s a uk knife collectors and traders sales page that’s pretty active.

  • Thanks. Am not on Facebook. Was really hoping for a forum where I could get some advice about what I have as my memory of where I got each one and what I paid is pretty hazy!

  • You could try listing them here. There’s not as many people interested but it’s somewhere to start. Some people might be able to suggest a value too. ( if you ignore the usual banter )

  • British Blades until it closed

    Shit. What happened?

Used to love procrasting to that site.

  • The guy that ran it gave up due to ill health. Some people went to Edgematters but I could never figure out how to get on to it. Never completed registration, might give it another go.
