But yeah it was fucking brutal, and that was my last shot before taking it to the garage. Made sure as I got it going to do the forward, back, forward, back method of unscrewing stuck bolts.
I didn't have any luck with the car belt strap removers, but I think a lot of what works may depend on the location. HD's had theirs on the side don't they? So there you'd have space. But on the bonniville it's underneath in between the frame rails.
Don't do this until absolutely every other avenue is exhausted.
I feel for you tho. The previous owner of my bike did the filter up too tight and it was an absolute sod to remove.
A good first tool-less option is to get a pair of gloves then reverse wrap a load of masking tape around the filter tightly and grab hold and turn hard with two hands.
