  • New kitchen time, trying to choose an induction hob with downdraft extraction. Given my experiences and what others say I'm really keen on physical controls (less lag, not impacted by wet hands) but there don't seem to be a lot of options:

    1. Bora Professional
    2. Gaggenau Flex 400 (looks like Gaggenau have a few options)
    3. Neff N70 (but the reviews on their website are shocking, citing long-term durability)

Anyone have any other suggestions? I'd rather not spend £5-6k on an induction hob/extractor

  • Elica is another brand to look at.

The Bora’s get really terrific reviews. If I only needed an induction hob they are what I’d go for. Unfortunately induction doesn’t deliver the wok hei required so will have to go for gas or gas/induction combination

  • For wok hei you really need the flames licking around the rim of the wok. Do any domestic gas hobs actually achieve that?

Guess you could use a tiny wok 🤪

  • What about a standalone induction wok unit?

Surely it's no different to having all the other kitchen gadgets (rice cooker, magimix etc...)

  • Hadn't come across Elica before, thanks! More competitively priced than Bora/Gagg, similar to B/S/N, do you know what they are like? Couldn't find much online except Which? who slate them for not meeting safety regs (now resolved)
