Hey, is there any reason i can't mount a stem mounted kids seat like this Thule one on my brompton?

The quill stem attachment might work, but you might be pretty cramped trying to hold the bars with the seat in the way. I wouldn't fancy it with the twitchiness of a Brompton.

yeah works fine, just make sure the clamp is big enough

One of the guys at work uses a Hamax seat on his Brompton that mounts to the seat post, seems to have been working a treat for him other than the minor inconvenience of the mount stopping the saddle from going all the way down when folded

I am imagining a forward mounted seat on the luggage block
Edit: obviously don’t do this
-

I found a couple of posts on reddit of people using this setup who claim the extra weight on the front actually reduces the twitchiness.
Plus my bike has 600mm bars on it

10kg Max, literally says on the bolt not suitable for kids,

Done this, it’s fucking sketchy.

Yeah I think the front mount is a better idea. We are going to get one anyway I think, and it may only go on the Brompton temporarily until one of us gets a non-carbon road bike

I think the “best” is a Milan Bryant + bobike, taken our kiddos for tonnes of miles on that set up.

Does anyone have any experience with the front racks? The large brompton bags look decent, but I'm wondering if there's a good solution to transporting a large holdall or similar without buying more bike luggage. I've used a pizza rack and wald basket and always enjoyed the usability of them, so wondered if I could rig up something similar
Current best idea i've got is one of these + a bungee net.

I’ve got a rack that I’ve strapped a larger Carradice to that works well, but only cos I had both knocking around. Might be worth looking at the Brompton basket bag, can just shove stuff in there as there’s no top to it.
I’ve tried strapping a dry bag to the rack before and it’s ok ish, but unless it has some structure tends to sag a bit onto the front wheel. Brompton bags mostly have a hard base to mitigate against this, and aren’t that deep too.
Also bear in mind the 10kg weight limit, so won’t want a huge bag that’s easily overfilled

Fahrer make a big basket, not the cheapest tho!
I kept thinking of getting a base plate and bolting a supermarket basket to it

Amazing, i saw the Bobike mini was well reviewed but it's not available here unfortunately.

Where you at? Can ship one out ?

Thanks for the help! It seems as though the best setup will be to just get a big brompton bag and then use a saddlebag or rucksack for anything extra

I use the large borough bag and its been really good. Recently went for a week trip and lived out of it the whole time. The water bottle pockets are incredibly satisfying too...

3 speed external conversion for a chap in Sweden, built up my favourite MiniMODS hub, OE rim and a Sunrace shifter.
This combo just works so nicely.

More tech detail please, not just an overview!
How does 3 spd mod work; It's a 2 spd hub & dr right?
Thinner sprockets & circlips to squeeze it all on?
Why sunrace shifter? -
• #11898
Sprockets from a 10 speed (thinner) and a 10sp chain.
Also, dedicated circlip (thinner)
Sunrace shifter works well - it could theoretically be any bar mounted friction shifter. -

Fit the miniMODs unibody x3, 11-14-17t (use this for the 11t) with a 1.6 or 1.8mm circlip, onto a standard 2 speed hub.
You then use an 11 speed chain; and ideally fit a pre 2017 anchorage for ease, with a barrel nut on the end.
I use the Sunrace friction shifter because you always get good shifting; even if the chain pusher wears a little or the cable settles in, there are no issues. With indexed shifters I find you often get a lack of crispness to the shifting.
For 3 speed you do not need to make any adjustments to the derailleur or tensioner

You can thanks @AE86 for this.
