Bikepacking - a viable alternative to racks & panniers

It is really good just doesn't play nice with the revelate harness.

I’m looking for one as a rear rack bag. Like the Ortlieb Rack Pack but lighter and smaller.

I use their 60L hold-all dry bag on my Omnium and it’s great. No frills, but low cost.

The Collins pack would have been too small actually. Picked up a Brooks Scape thing today, reckon it’s ideal.

Any budget saddle bag recommendations that may be in stock and that won't fall to bits on first use? Around 10L give or take

Have been trying to bodge a 10L dry bag but not having much luck getting it to sit and stay in a useable position.

Podsacs from PlanetX usually get recommended as super-budget seat packs, but they are out of stock it looks like!

Else PlanetX Podsacks or Alpkit Koala might do the trick? Been some time since I’ve bought so not sure on what they cost anymore.

Else many LBS’s may well stock the apidura/ortlieb/altura sets, seen them crop up. Admirably apidura/ortlieb aren’t budget, but may be available in stores.

The Planet X Podsacs one would be ideal if they were in stock

With the dry bag I'm finding it difficult for the straps I have to stay in place also to keep the bag into a somewhat narrow point to have room for my thighs. If it's a faff to do in my house it'd be a nightmare to do in the rain behind some hedge

Yeah, careful packing is never easy. Putting your sleeping mat to form some structure can help, or finding a tapered dry bag? Rockbros is another brand that does cheap and cheerful, but serviceable. often on Amazon. Or Decathlons riverside/btwin?

What’s your budget? Carradice Junior is 9l and expandable.

Looking in the £30 to £50 range.

Carradice junior is right in budget but was leaning more towards the roll top/compressible stuff as thought would help in packing down my sleeping bag and bits a lot better

Hey yall. This Friday at around 11 pm we decided to go from central London with some friends up to south end by sea. It was a blast and now we have decided to start taking longer rides as a group

Kind of wanted some recommendations for frame , saddle and front bags.

One of my friends has restrap and he says they are solid but I wanted to get more opinions.

Wizard works is pretty close to my house, I've checked them out but they seem kinda pricey.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Alpkit do custom frame bags for a reasonable prices.

Revelate is considered "Gold standard" but it's wicked expensive and only seldom comes up on eBay.

Decathlon do stem bags for £5 and also have a bike packing range, but it feels like their stuff is probably made in sweatshop conditions given the pricing. (I have two, and would be happy to be proven wrong)

Front bags depends a bit on whether you want a "dry bag harness" type bag or a carradice style saddle bag on the bars.

You might not be able to buy anything that quick unless there's shops with stock.

I'd be more inclined to borrow something off someone. It's not like everyone is using their bags all the time.

I'll simplify it,

Decathlon = cup of tea
Alpkit = cup of tea with milk
Restrap, Apidura = oat flat white
Wizard Works = turmeric latte
Revelate Designs = cup of tea from a Trangia kettle on the beach
