Preach. Never again. Powdercoating tape for the win.

I bought those expensive caffelatex big rubber band things because I hate taping wheels
Turns out I hate the big rubber band things too.

Any suggestions for a 26" tubeless (preferably) gravel tyre 35-40mm width?

Rene Herse Naches Pass... if you’re feeling flush?

FYI Silca said their formula was incorrect in the batch of sealant I have, so they are sending me a new bottle. Not bad service.
OKO has arrived, so will give that a whirl first. It’s the full-on Off Road Tyre Sealant for tractors etc, so I’ll dilute 1:1, which I’ve read works well.

Have small hole. very bored of getting covered in jizz every 4 rides.
Which tyre patches should I buy?Do the Park tool "only for emergency use with a tube" chaps work ok...?

Plug it with a small anchovy. Quick and easy.
-
• #5011
Nah, I’m on small Anchovie plug #7.
It’s not working. -

Dang. What tyre is it?

Schwalbe Pro Ones - new enough I don't want to replace, small enough hole it's not a write off, but no joy in sealing.
Related: Lush shampoo soap bar is by far the most effective Stans Sealant removal tool from leg hair - just rub the bar over the afflicted area until clean. Other soaps do not perform as well.

https://bikerumor.com/lezyne-2022-eurobike-tubeless-tire-repair-airtag-trackers-new-pumps/ looks promising but not clear if you can buy anywhere yet.

Put a tyre boot on the inside and see if that does it?

• #5016
Strangely enough got the same tyres and problem.

They look like car tyre plugs. Are they just smaller versions of these

Bingo. Can't find them but that is exactly what I'm after.
Now: how do you get 50ml of highly sticky gunk out of your drive train in a drought?
-

Those lezyne things look alright, but if you're taking the tyre off anyway just use a normal, old fashioned puncture repair kit. I've fixed up a few holes that wouldn't seal by popping one bead off by the hole, leaving all the sealant in the tyre at the bottom, cleaning with some isopropyl on a rag and a light sanding, then take traditional patch that you put rubber cement on the back of before starting this so it's had a good 5 minutes or more to get tacky, press onto tyre hard for a minute, pop bead back on and reinflate keeping sealant away from patch for 5 minutes or so so the air pressure holds in in place, jobs a good'n. The self adhesive things are shit and won't work though.

^ i've done a variation on this before, with scraps of old inner tube and rubberised super glue. Works fine so far

I've got one of the Rema Tip Top tubeless kits but I've never used it so can't comment on effectiveness https://www.rematiptop.com/products/automotive/tube-repair-kits/tubeless-repair-kits/tubeless-repair-kit-5060160.html

I can only assume the glue is different, but the regular stuff has worked fine in my experience as long as you keep the sealant away from it for a while whilst it has 40-60psi pushing it into place.

About to replace my IRC Formula Pro’s as it’s been 3 years or so since I got them. Are there are new contenders on the block for commuting, and no, not Schwalbe Pro One thx?
-
• #5024
I use IRC by choice but didn’t want to shell out well over £50 a try so went for the Hutchinson Fusion 11 Storm nearly 3 years ago. Currently £40 at condor. I’ve been really pleased. Had a pinch with a very sharp pothole but I replaced like for like.

Have we discussed continental 5000 sr in 30 or 32
Looking at options other than schwalbe pro one ?
Haha.
It's the Berliner Zeitung, so there's not much to read in it.
It's what my 93 year old neighbor reads. And it is well shit. Actually missed a trick, just realised it has boobs in it.
