What would be the odds that China actively worked to get Russia to invade Ukraine in order to draw NATO/US away from Asia-Pacific? And since Russia is a counterweight to US influence, could Ruzzia v. Ukraine become a China v. US proxy war?
Separately and somewhat strangely, Algeria and Russia have scheduled joint military exercises near the border with Morocco for this November, which is making Spain curious.

I believe it's just Russians themselves. We can speculate all we want but Russia kept on bullying and annexing neighbouring countries for decades - Chechnya, Georgia, Crimea of Ukraine... and now bit on something it can't chew.

The production level of these is good. Ukrainians are killing it on social media

Given that the head of their military intelligence stated nearly a year ago that Russia intended to invade in 2022, it’s likely that Ukraine intelligence and psy-ops have been studying what would go down best with western audiences at least since then. Add in their private sector production and marketing companies, and they’ve got one of the most effective propaganda/media efforts in living memory.

Anyone with a Ukraine mobile number? There’s an app I’m curious about, TИXTO, which has been developed by the Ukraine Gov and private sector to use publicly available online info to positively ID people and cars in the field. It apparently uses social media and other open sources, and I’m curious if it would, for example, ID me correctly since I’m not Ukrainian nor on most popular social media.
If anyone wants to download and check it’s accuracy, I’d be very interested in your results. https://youcontrol.com.ua/en/news/ty-hto/

Here's another article about Ukraine using Clearview's AI software for face recognition. Wouldn't be surprised if it's the same service implemented in the app.
The Clearview founder said his startup had more than 2 billion images
from the Russian social media service VKontakte at its disposal, out
of a database of over 10 billion photos total. -

Interesting to see if Dugin will go even more apeshit crazy now that the good russians killed her nazi daughter in the car bombing.

How do you think the Russian population will respond to that? Killing politicians’ family members can result in the public rallying their support. However I’m not sure that will be the case here.

You think it was done by the good Russians?
I've read opinions that it was the work of FSB to fuel even more hatred towards Ukraine and to move forward with the war. Just like they did with Chechnya (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russian_apartment_bombings)
Dugin laid the foundation of the way Russia sees the world today but it's not like he was an actual threat.

Tons of theories flying around right now. Have heard that the hitherto unknown nra could be a splinter group from the fsb that are done with Putin; that the nra is legit but is just starting up; that Putin is behind the nra and is using them to eliminate the ultranationalists who would pressure him to stay in Ukraine…

Whichever faction was responsible it's yet another embarrassing balls-up by the Russians. Hence the immediate pinning of blame onto Ukrainian Special Forces.

The US is spending another $3 bn on weapons for Ukraine, including six more NASAMS, taking the total to eight. This will enable a pretty big no-fly zone. Maybe enough for the whole country. They'll have to be ordered and won't be operational for ages, maybe two years. The US is making a long term commitment. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2022/aug/24/joe-biden-ukraine-military-aid-zelenskiy

As Europe's energy costs skyrocket, Russia is burning off large
amounts of natural gas, according to analysis shared with BBC News.Experts say the gas would previously have been exported to Germany.
They say the plant near the border with Finland, is burning an
estimated $10m (£8.4m) worth of gas every day. -

Dugin is not a politician. He is a fascist philosopher. Call him what he is. Anyways who knows if Dugina was even killed. She is probably in Iran getting a nose job. At least his father was all sunshine in her funeral #onlyinruzzia
