  • Whenever something is being cut up, I’m Interested

    31.8 topper or telescopic?

  • Telescopic that will terminate in a length of 28.6mm tubing so any 1 1/8” stem can be fitted.

  • Although actually, I could make basically a quill stem with a 28.6mm quill that fits in the top. Hmmm…

  • Bodge job for the rear Dynamo light as the H&H rack doesn’t have proper mounts sadly. Risk of extreme destruction? Or just likely to crack the guards sooner? Feels pretty solid being just near the rack mounting point…

Zip ties in case it needs to move, before you ask.

  • Take a boring M stem, do a little cutting, a little brazing and end up with at least as much reach and height as an S stem.

Integrated handlebar clamp top section to come.

  • Spot on. This is awesome.

  • Has anyone got any recs for reasonably priced Brompton bags? £115+ seems the starting point. All I wanna do is chuck a few taters in there while I'm winging it round Sainsbury's.

  • Define reasonable… but UPSO (Carradice offshoot) are slightly cheaper: https://www.upsobags.co.uk/recycled-bike-bags/ferrybridge-folder-brompton

    You’ll always have a Brompton tax though…

I’ve had done success with picking up a frame only and strapping on a Carradice saddlebag from eBay which works surprising well. Frames sometimes hard to come by but think SJS have MiniMods ones that fit

  • They are nice, though I guess with the frame it's still over the £100 mark. I was hoping closer to £60, but maybe that's unrealistic. Even on eBay they seem to go for more than that.

So is this essentially a proprietary system that other's aren't allowed to produce cheap rip-offs of, then?

  • Loads of company’s make aftermarket versions, but not cheapo ones generally

  • Yeah, and this isn’t supposed to come off as flippant but if one has splurged £1000 on a new Brompton, 10% extra for the dedicated luggage that is excellent isn’t unreasonable in my view. It just works, and I’ve never needed to think about it (other than when the clip wears out and the bag jumps off going over a speed bump…)

  • stock m6l 1350 these days..!

You're probably right, but what you're not factoring in is that I'm a cheap bastard and I think everything should cost what it did in 2001.

  • Got two bits to sell;

    Minoura kickstand, £40 shipped
MiniMODs idler wheels, 2/6 speed rrp £99, £60 shipped - fitted to check fitting but not used!

  • alternatively you can get a “Brompton bag adapter” from China on eBay for about a tenner & screw it to whatever you want - plastic veg box type thing?

  • Are B75 brake calipers specific to this model?
I bought this of the Bay & the different length bolts aren't compatible; B75 Brake bolts are the same length! Are the calipers with different length bolts pre 2017?

    https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/brakes/ti-parts-workshop-front-rear-caliper-brake-titanium-bolt-set-black/

  • There was a change in brakes I think around then on the standard models, where they increased the hole diameter from 5mm (old) to 6mm (new) so older brake callipers couldn’t fit new frames, but old frames could be drilled out to fit new callipers. Maybe related?

  • Whoever now deals with this at sjs has changed the descriptions; it used to be very clear.

In 2019 the brakes / forks changed. The b75 has used a mixture and the user needs to check what type they have.

Sounds like yours is a newer b75 and has two rear pre 2017 calipers.

Why do you want a Ti bolt kit for a b75 anyhow?

  • Speaking of brakes, fake Brompton going strong for the gf. She is super happy with the stronger brakes. Her only complaint is that the previous mode allowed her to skid whilst the newer version doesn’t….

  • Cheers. Maybe I'll look at picking one up. Did you have to get the wheels separately?

  • Bling/upgrade!

  • Love the decal.

  • Yes I did. Wheels weren’t included, only things that were was the bolts to mount to the frame/mudguards.

  • In case anyone needs an upgrade..
