  • Nice work, you made cracking time with the later start. We must have crossed paths as I finished at 02:25. What bike were you riding?

  • White equilibrium, had a fuck Putin sticker on guard. Accidentally ripped my own legs off on the first 100km 🤣

  • Weird, I don't remember seeing that bike but we must have crossed over at various controls.

I was on a titanium bike, 1 red bottle and 1 black bottle. I had spd sandals on.

  • I don't wear in a helmet, I remember seeing sandals!

  • Bromptons came through a good few hours ago, pretty fresh too.

  • well done. Under 100 hrs is a solid effort!

  • I saw two of the original 3 bromptons last night (one dropped out).

Think it was yesterday early evening when I saw two fixies.

I did it in a bit over 98 hours finishing shortly before 2pm (with plenty of help from a group I met at the St. John's Chapel village hall on the way up, and left when they slept last night at Louth). I didn't sleep until Moffat on the way up, then didn't sleep last night on the way down either. It got really hot from lunchtime and I started to struggle.

I'm currently lingering around waiting for my second bag drop to come back.

  • Not sure I would LEL on a brompton. Wonder what gearing set up they had.

  • Finished 9pm Thursday night
    Started Guildhall
    Rode a Dolan Precursor
    Fixed 49-19 no flip hub

  • Awesome, good work!

Well done everyone who finished and even attempted it's a mad game

  • Nice article celebrating the event

A record 55 Indian cyclists have completed one of the toughest long distance cycling challenges in the world, London-Edinburgh-London (LEL) 2022 - during a scorching British heatwave.

    https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/world/uk/record-55-indians-complete-tough-uk-cycle-challenge/articleshow/93601935.cms

Gareema Shankar, 43, from Delhi, was the last known rider to complete the route – finishing two and a half days out of time on Monday at 6am. “Even when people told me you are out of race now and even though all the control points were closed, I wanted to carry on and pedal and experience the British countryside. It was the experience of a lifetime,” she said. “I was very happy to finish on Independence Day and people came out with banners to cheer me.” She cycled alone through the night and once had to get treated by a medic. Cycling on the gravel, the heat, saddle sore and nerve pain all slowed her down.

  • What's the route generally like in terms of busy roads?

Trying to map out a London to Newcastle route and borrowing big sections of a LEL would be a big help if for the most part uses quieter lanes

  • It's almost entirely on quiet roads. Only a few A roads across the route.

  • Great, thanks!

Also have there been many variations of it? Any year regarded as being particularly good

  • I think they're all broadly similar. This year's route was tougher than previously (apparently). The section through the North York Moors was new and lumpy with some fairly sketchy descents. The return leg back from Barnard Castle to Malton was far easier than the outbound route.

  • Cool spotted that, the return section definitely looks more fixed friendly

  • 2017 was more fixie friendly. Try find that route. 1400km and 11,000m climbing ish I believe.
