  • Hmm that's not a good development at all. Like I said before, it seems to really be common knowledge how easy they are to steal and they are definitely being targeted. Think everyone will be needing to swap over to the purions until it becomes common knowledge they are not easy to steal again.

  • Yeah it's really not good! Both incidents were in totally separate parts of town as well, Holloway and Poplar. My only concern with using a Purion, or any other non-removable head unit would be the fact that you're then solely relying on a lock to immobilise the bike. Even a good quality D-lock probably isn't enough to stop a determined thief. An Urban Arrow plus Carla trailer plus load probably weighs about 200kg so isn't going anywhere without electric assist. I'm inclined to think that even though the likelihood of losing a £100 removable head unit is probably higher, the adverse effect of losing one occasionally is outweighed by the benefit of not being able to move the bike at all if the unit is in a rider's pocket. Just some initial thoughts though, I could well be talking bollocks and please correct me if I am!
