  • Nice 😎 currently on the costa del Newhaven

  • I'm also using a deployant at the moment. Also need to work out how to get the bezel off because it's got all jammed up and needs a clean.

  • Lovely watch, wish I could justify it ATM

  • Bezels are a piece of piss to get off.
If you have a case back knife, use that if not, a kitchen knife is fine (just be careful)
Wiggle it in at the 11oclock position, once it's in, twist a bit and it should just pop off.

Getting it back on requires two hefty books (I use Hugh F-W cookery books) put the watch in-between and lean on the top book until it clicks on.

    Edit: SKX experience only

  • I think my kitchen knives are too chunky and I'm reluctant to get the hammer out. Need like a chisel or something.

  • Running it under the tap and turning the bezel has always worked for me. Toothbrush and warm soapy water if it’s especially gunked up.

  • Stanley blade is best.
    Just be careful .

  • Anyone want? VGC. Fits up to ~17cm (6,7") wrists, 2 extra links included.
Steel/18k gold. Genta Design. All the good stuff.
Would like £580 posted/offer (From Sweden).

  • I kind of see what they were going for - reviving a more unique heritage design to replace the rather generic previous generation SuperOcean - but most of the variants have come out looking pretty ugly.

Couple of live shots of these coming through now, even though it isn't exactly a 44GS (the SBGW047 is that, very much on my grail list) it's really lovely I think. Sure you could order the bracelet from the pink one if you wanted.

I concur with you review of the NATO straps from the strap tailor.

I have received two straps and both have a audible tinkle noise of the rollers moving around, the navy one is slightly worse. Granted, only I would probably hear that noise but it’s enough to annoy me.

Also the NATO it came with, while not my style, is a thicker, more pleasing material and you can pass the strap under the buckle before securing under the two further ‘keepers’ (no idea of the actual name) see photos - this feels more secure and I prefer this type of security.

  • I’ve purchased an OEM used Deployant clasp for a leather strap.

It is anodised black and I was thinking to chemically strip the black off to reveal the metal finish below.

Before I do so, does anyone know if the metal below would be damaged by the process or would rust / tarnish proof? Or if stripped, do I need to apply some sort of clear coat?

  • Yes, its a bit flimsy but it’s also cheap so can’t complain about it.
It’s still an OK strap - using it on my seiko.

  • Where is current favourite for leather straps?

  • This is what I did with this two stitch one https://www.twostitchstraps.com/products/two-stitch-rustic-black-leather-watch-strap?variant=39748006117449
Most buckles can just be removed with a springbar tool.

  • This question is budget dependent…

  • It's stainless steel so it's not anodized. It won't rust if left untreated just make sure whatever you strip it with doesn't damage it. It's pretty durable stuff I've seen coatings removed with an oven cleaner bath which looks easy enough. If you don't get a better answer on here ask on the frame builders thread. Those guys will know their steel.
