just like me! the usual zwift and gym?

Hey thanks for this, all good to know. Yeah I suppose I’m the same in that I’d take the comfort of bigger tyres and mudguards over speed in winter so definitely prepared for it to be a bit slower than an all out road bike.
@beseku yeah that did cross my mind. However I’ve gone some gravel riding on 35mm tyres and spent quite a lot of it wishing I had wider tyres (probably a reflection of my rubbish gravel riding skillz more than anything!)

I'm quite tempted by a Secan. Is anyone using one as an only bike? I commute 20 miles a day and would like something that's practical and sensible for that but also able to knock out some fun gravel and longer road rides at the weekend.

You definitely could, my buddy uses one as 9 months of the year road bike with the odd bit of gravel thrown in occasionally and we do decent speeds on outings together, loading it with rack and mudguards etc for commuting would work a treat

That's what I was hoping to hear! It'll take me a while to get the money together to make a decision so plenty of time to look in to it a bit more.

Does anyone know what these cages are? (King Cage?)
Ta!

King Cage Iris. My vote goes to Arundel steel cages.

King Cage Iris
this. i have them on my strael and imo they grip the bottle far too hard. great for xc/gravel i assume but bit annoying for road riding
-
• #335
and they mark bottles, we need a thread with title: King cages are overpriced and overhyped and they mark bottles, iris is actually the worst.

I'm looking for cages for a Strael
(if they don't keep putting the due date back 😟)
Is there a forum approved model?
-
• #342
Looks more like a £3 cage than £5
-
• #343
Yeah, I agree. What chance do you think I've got of sending a nice message and asking them to hugely discount a 56T in replacement? Haha.
-
• #344
I'm not sure how serious you were but I've sent you a message about the Mr Pink!

Arundel stainless cages are the absolute best cages in the world. Will die on that hill.
-
• #346
Room for one more on that hill? King cages can go suck a lemon!

Can’t wait to post an image of my Fairlight with king cages for the haters.
I also have to backpedal. Now I have the black - it’s very nice. Communication could still have been better though.

Iris are good but ye gods they are tight, I can see the bottles bulging in the grasp of them. Arundel are the best - putting the bisdon back is a pleasure

Scruffy but decent looking spec and price Secan on ebay at the mo:
Is 36mm too narrow for summer gravel? If not, why not the Streal? It’ll certainly not feel sluggish.
