You definitely could, my buddy uses one as 9 months of the year road bike with the odd bit of gravel thrown in occasionally and we do decent speeds on outings together, loading it with rack and mudguards etc for commuting would work a treat
That's what I was hoping to hear! It'll take me a while to get the money together to make a decision so plenty of time to look in to it a bit more.
