Anyone know anyone who can break my d-lock?

  • In what's been something of a nightmare today, my d-lock somehow malfunctioned while at Decathlon, so I've currently got a bike that has its front wheel locked to the frame. Just got it back via a sweaty rail replacement bus service and am wondering how tf I'm going to get it off.

I've got the keys, but they won't actually go into the chamber, so I think it'll need cutting off. Anyone know who can do that type of thing?

  • Do a shout out amongst your neighbours for an angle grinder. Someone will have one.

  • Spray a bit of wd40 in it, let soak in. And fingers crossed.

  • No neighbours with angle grinders and the WD40 has made zero impression.

  • I've got a grinder you can borrow if you are anywhere near Worcester Park KT4?

  • Cheers for the offer. I'm not really that close, tbh. Based in Nunhead/Peckham. Could ride over on my other bike if needs be, though.

  • What lock is it?

  • Seatylock Mason. I recommend not buying one due to the faulty lock chambers.

  • Have you tried giving the lock a whack to try and move the pins? I have a lock that can jam but whacking it on the pavement frees it up.

  • Nope, but I'll give it a whirl.

  • Can confirm whacking it with a big hammer has done nothing to improve the situation, though it did feel quite therapeutic.

  • Try getting hold of a hydraulic bottle jack.

  • Best ever excuse to buy an angle grinder :)

  • I mean, I did totally look at angle grinders online. But I think I'm sorted now - someone heading over tomorrow afternoon with one for me to borrow.

  • All done and dusted now.
