Harpenden to Rennes

Not really touring but I'm cycling to a meeting I have in Rennes.

Any recommended roads/routes either side of the channel? I'm planning Harpenden>Newhaven>Ferry to Dieppe>Dieppe>Rennes and then reverse for the way back but I'm open to a different ferry route back assuming it doesn't add additional days.

I've got a few routes from North London to harpenden, and from central London to Newhaven (from a London to paris ride I arranged), DM me and I'll give you my RWGPS info and point you in the right direction
