@amey or other GSD experienced folk. Is fitting new brake pads supposed to be a total pain in the dick? The second pad just wouldn't go in without bending the tabs a bit.

Also took off the sidekick double wides as I wasn't really using them, if anyone wants them?

Seems cheap for a HCB for a bullit, cheaper than I paid for mine.

And exactly same as you, rear worn more than the front. Started hearing the metal sound just this week on 800 miles. Front was always a bit honky before. Now silent (he says, jinxing the bedding in).

did you have to file off the tabs then? apparently you can use their single piston pads with a bolt that doesn’t have tabs.

No, I just straightened them slightly on one side. I saw the single pads when frantically googling "HOW TO MAKE MT5 PADS NOT BE TOTAL CUNT BASTARDS" and have resigned to using those next time.

I'm also due a brake pad change on a term GSD. Hoping to so it at the same time as a chain replacement.

Top tips for pad replacement?

File the kink of the tabs off or straighten them on one side.

One pad will snap into place no bother but the bend in the tabs will mean the second one has to go in at an angle and there's seemingly no physical way that can happen. Maybe the pads I have (as recommended by Amey, not a diss) just have more meat on them than stock.

Or get the individual pads with retaining bolts that can be fitted from the top.

Bit of a weird incident today. A young lad I work with was out delivering on an Urban Arrow. As he was loading up on the street someone on a bike grabbed the head unit and rode off with it. A little bit later, as he was waiting for someone to bring him a replacement head unit, he noticed the same 2 guys on a moped type thing riding past a few times, clearly checking out the bike. He got a bit freaked out so flagged down a passing police car. Hope it doesn't put him off, he's only young and super keen. I'll be having a word with the team and making sure they're being super careful about not leaving valuables on the bikes from now.

We've had a head unit stolen off a UA in Bristol. Most of the removable units can be secured with a bolt through the back.

How secure are they? I'd be concerned about someone trying to rip it off and damaging it. We always take them off when we're not with the bike. This was so brazen though, the rider was just at the front of the bike!

Did you reset the pistons before you tried to put the new pads in?

We had quite a few of the head units stolen, it seems a lot of people know about them and are aware how easy they are to take.

I'd recommend upgrading to the Purion instead of buying new replacements for Intuvia.

On the Intuvia it's just a allen bolt which goes through the mount and into a slot on the head unit itself. With a bit of know how and time it would only take 60 seconds to remove, so no good if bikes are left outside for extended periods.

Ah ok, probably not going to work then! Will just make sure everyone's taking it off and putting it somewhere safe if they're not straddling the bike.
