Anyone have any experience with Omni wheels? They look great but I'm a bit concerned they will constantly rattle while riding the bike.

Speaking of wheeling around, is it worth getting a rear rack to make it easier to roll around (I can't imagine it will ever get used as a rear rack)?
If so, what is the favoured one (that won't break the bank) and do you need extra wheels too (and if so what)? Cheers

I’ve wondered the exact same thing, so went and bought the H&H Alu rack to give it a try. Half the price of the official Brompton one. May occasionally be used to balance a parcel that wont fit in the front bag. Will report back once fitted, supposed to be delivered today!
Yes extra wheels needed, I’ve gone for the same Joseph Kousac ones I have already

Ah nice one thank you! Yeah I think I've worked out it's a re-badged tern so would be good to avoid having to get one of these

Going to be in Bristol on Saturday if anyone needs any Brompton work done, in the big van so anywhere in the city or south-west of there.
For those above asking about easy wheels, my favourite will be the SON or Kuosac , look pretty decent and the most durable.

Any chance you will be going via...say.... North Kent...?

Potentially shepperton in September or October which will probably be the closest

Bear in mind that anything on the rack of a Brompton needs to be no wider than the rack or it gets in the way of your feet.

Or just pushed towards the back, but yes good point.

I have ridden home from WC1 with my heels before!
-
• #11813
Yeah this is a funny one, put two boxed bikes on sideways and found it quite amusing on the heels
-
• #11814
The rack is definitely handy but 2 boxed bikes is well over double the rating!

Ratings are there to be tested like rules broken

:) Happy for you to be testing the limits. My favourite so far has been carrying a plasterers bucket on one side of the handlebars, that really messes with the balance.

Sorry, forgot about this. If you’re anywhere near N16 on weekdays pm me and I’ll have a look at it for you.

All the mods are fun but Brompton don't seem to be able to nail a lighter version of the original line yet and it's been 46 yrs. Tell you what i would like.... a kid sized one for my little guys...

a kid sized one
How old?
-
• #11821
dunno - my 6 and 9 yo have tried riding my c-line - I just thought a fully scaled down version would be cute ;-)

• #11822
Have built something for someone four ft eleven before

• #11824
What's the weight of the original line?
-

Good point - I just meant c line is sort of the original design right - And the p and t line have issues no ? C line is probs lighter than historic versions but not much. Overall I just think it’s wierd that people expect Brompton to evolve and provide a bike that does more and more beyond the original design - which was a humble and robust commuter.
