It seems crazy that a very light yet highly stressed component, like a brake lever, gets so much drillium attention, and that a big, heavy and low stress seatpost gets hardly any !? So is this just all about aesthetics.
Before y'all jump on my lack of knowledge about mechanics and engineering (which I've been doing for over 40yrs) just google "broken seatpost". I found no examples that can't be explained by defective materials or manufacturing, ie cast alloy.
