  • I have a lead on another MN issued Tudor sub.........

  • let me know what you want and I'll see what I can do.

  • Obviously. And not just about Tissot!

  • Nice one I'll message you 👍

  • This is fucking lovely

  • Lowering the tone a touch but new watch day here..

The new Timex Q is meant to scratch my itch for a smaller watch with 12 hour bezel. I really love how the old version wears but finding a working one and trusting its reliability meant I went with the new version.

Underwhelmed so far.. build quality seems OK for the price but the strap really doesn’t work with the narrow lugs etc. I think they designed it around the bracelet.

I’ll keep until my next work trip overseas and see if it grows on me.. alternatively, what’s my chances of a straight-forward movement swap into the old case?? Slim to none I assume.

    Seller is asking 28k..

Sounds like crazy money but this one feels special..

  • Hnnnnnnnng almost worth it for the bonkers awesome bezel

  • Is it though? Have you seen my steinhart? Yours for £27k. Save yourself a g!

  • Walked past my local Ramsdens (pawn shop) the other day. They usually have a decent selection of watches in with maybe a Rolex sub being top priced.

They currently have a PP Nautilus, a Rolex Daytona and a GMT Master II in the window. Make of that what you will.

  • Crypto bros fallen on hard times?!

    Might be this dude

We’ve got a very good customer with a platinum Rolex, which is probably worth about £50,000 or £60,000,” said Peter Kenyon, the company’s chief executive. “He’s a builder and when his cash flow is short he gives us the Rolex, borrows between £10,000 and £20,000 . . . pays interest at 2 per cent a month, then pays us back when his cash flow improves.

  • Quite possibly. The Daytona was priced at just short of 50k. It looked like it was available to buy but I've never been in there to ask about anything in the window.

  • I know nothing about pawn shops, but I feel surprised that folks would want to spend that kind of money on one, and also that a shop would take on such an easily stolen object. Feels like a liability for them. Guess they've got a good safe.

  • Got a good price on a Pogue a while back and couldn't say no.

  • Looks like a nice one too.

  • I can understand the marketing value of having a couple of nice pieces in the window but you'd think that if you actually had to move that kind of stock there would be better channels.

Unless the idea is to sell it with exorbitantly expensive financing to someone that can't really afford it so that you get to turn it a few more times?

EDIT: just had a look at Ramsdens and you can buy an £8.5k Explorer with 20% down and £170 / month for 4 years at 9.9% APR, so maybe that's the point.

  • Beauty.

Every time I look into buying one they are more expensive than the last time I looked.

  • They have an internet site and I think are a kind of pawn shop chain. I won't post a link but it's easily googlable. All 3 watches are on their website.

I'm in York and we have a lot of tourism and a very high proportion of seemingly very well off Chinese students so maybe there's something in that?

The thing I found interesting was that all 3 appeared at the same time. I guess could be from the same seller but also a possible indication that people who've held as investment are now selling?

  • What's the RRP on a platinum Daytona? Gold is much more expensive than platinum nowadays but I suspect Rolex DGAF and charge lots more cos Rolex.

  • Taking a look at Chrono24 the value of my watches has fallen across the board - is this something people have observed in the real world?
