  • @ric_a5 @kl thank you, this is brilliant. Should keep me going long enough to play a gig and drive home.

  • If that's the Full Nelson it's closed now. Not sure why but saw a note on the window when I walked past the other week, didn't read it though. This discussion reminded me so checked their website which just says 'Permanently closed'.

  • Yeah, it's not the cheapest but for a treat I really like it. Loads of fruit options for the base and also different crumble toppings then a few different custards/ice creams for on top as well. Think they do some other stuff like cheesecake as well.

  • If that's the Full Nelson it's closed now.

Fairly sure it is the same one - that's a shame. There is/was definitely a vegan Indian place on Deptford High St as well.

  • Hullabaloo. Very good food.

  • I'm not sure there are many thing better than a bloody good crumble or cheesecake. Though I did once make a diabolically shit peanut butter/tofu cheesecake that my tastebuds can recall at a moment's notice.

  • Just had a meal there; really nice!

  • There's (or was) a tiny vegan pub on New Cross Rd, opposite the end of Deptford High St. It looked really good,

Think you might be talking about the full nelson? It closed quite suddenly. Sad times :-(

    Edit Woops already mentioned

This sounds quite promising and interesting, specifically the superbrewed thing, given that most diary free cheeses are pretty much nutrition-less.

  • What's a non yogurt / creamy /similar version of pro bio yogurt to help with the gut?

    Cheers.

Bonus points if it tastes like salt and pepper crisps.

  • I like Alpro Greek Style, has yoghurt cultures in it.

  • Coconut collaborative, actimel almond, benecol oat, Morrisons plant revolution yoghurts, they do a nice cheap ish coconut one with love cultures. Koko brand, biomel.

there’s these oat kefir drinks going round too. First one I had was nice, all the rest since look like they’re ready to explode and taste a bit weird / too fizzy ..

  • London folk: I’ll be visiting London for the first time in years next month and I’ve got two days set aside to mooch around, drink coffee, visit galleries and - most importantly- stuff my face with food. What are the vegan places that I have to check out?

  • What part of London will u be in?

  • Merkamo Ethiopian in Spitalfields, good non junk option for super tasty AND healthy.

  • Not directly answering your question but if you're looking to increase your gut microbiome diversity then look to all the fermented (non-alcoholic) drinks and foods - Kombucha, kefir, kimchi, sauerkraut, proper sourdough (ideally stoneground wholemeal, definitely not supermarket stuff). Eating mostly whole [plant] foods has been shown to help with this too.

  • @MCamb I will be staying Hackney way but I’ll have a bike with me so happy to go wherever for good food.

@Ruserius Thanks, will check it out.

  • Itadaki Zen near Kings Cross for amazing Japanese food! Not cheap though.

Club Mexicana in Soho for vegan Mexican food.

Yard Sale Pizza all over the place.

Zeret Kitchen in Camberwell for really good value ethiopian.

  • Oh shit yes. Forgot about House of Momo! I think I went for the first time based on your recommendation and have been back any time I'm in the area!

  • Oh, for junk food in east London, Halo burger and Oowee are worth checking out!

  • Cheers.

Sorry to everyone else, if I wasn't clear. It needs to not be anything like yogurt, milk or cream in terms of consistency or taste. Like the way an apple is not like custard. My OH doesn't like creamy things.

  • You can get supplements and just bosh a couple of pills, no need to eat.

  • Athletic greens claim a probiotic element and is vegan

But, despite what all the podcasters say, it is not delicious. It's not rank either, mind

  • Oowee

Went there a couple of months ago, and it was excellent - but I think they said they were closing down. I might be wrong.
