  • Readers. The rear wheel disk is amusing, but is there really no way of pumping up the tyre without removing 4 x 10mm bolts!!? Access hole is too small to get any pump I own onto it.

  • Can you not get an angled valve extender?

  • Looks like I can! Wasn't aware of these, thank you.

  • This is so rad!

  • Cheers! Only just got it, no huge plans, will lose the Avenir bag, add slicks and some better pedals. And we'll see about that rear disk, keeping an eye out for when the wind picks up...

  • Snap! Wish mine had a rear disc, and that I took better pictures of it lol

    Good bike

  • GT Timberline with basket bag by @user71349. Really enjoying this bike! It'd be nice to get some klunker bars, but not sure I can justify the expense.

  • Nice! Big fan of the paint with the gold flecks plus the matchy stem. Also would like a 1x setup..something for the future.

  • This seems a likely thread - any interest in some free 26" tyres? Have a Schwalbe Nobby Nic (26x2.25) in vgc and a tired old Specialized Nimbus (26x1.5) - both free if you want to collect from SW13.

  • Finished my Paris cobbles commuter. Wheeler mtb frame from the 90s...unfortunately not retro parts after that. 7 speed IGH, dynamo front wheel, swept salsa bend bars, internally routed electrical cabling.

  • Lovely. Always liked them nineties Wheelers.

  • Very cool, and fantastic paintjob, chain could use some tension though. Half link maybe?

  • My brother's 1998 Sunn Exact ti. (Sunn Egobike team bike)

  • Thanks! I tried a half link - unfortunately it pulls the wheel a little bit forward and then the tyre contacts the mudguard bolt and locks up...so it seems my magic gear calculation was a bit off as I did not account for tyre clearance issues.

I have a alfine single pulley under chain tensioner in storage, I'll probably add that just to have some peace of mind. The chain isn't coming off at the moment, but once it stretches a little bit I am sure it will be wanting to jump off with every small bump.

  • Yeah, I know. I must admit tho, I had a weak spot for the Exact that came in steel.

  • Oh I see, I didn't at first glance recognize how tukt it is. Looks wild anyway! Wheelers are very underrated imho, they usually look and ride great!

  • Absolute dream machine.

  • Has @citygent posted their new red thing? Saw it at CM on Friday, verrry shiny and neat, all silver parts, Hardrock I think.

  • W O W ! ! ! That’s one beautiful and special machine. Looks pretty much immaculate! I’d be too scared to own that! :)

  • Whoa! Mental wagon.

What’s the deal with the Chris King headset? Is it a super-early model, or just a CK bearing cap assembly on top of other cups?

  • Richard Cunningham built several variations of these X frames. He had a few that combined steel and aluminum triangles.
He may have been one of the original elevated stay builders.
