Haven't you heard? We are going to turn off the Sun / put a big awning up in space. Climate change is dunzo

hah, sorry I was inbetween zoom calls of doom.
I think it's great that the public sector has redeeming qualities besides just the money and that's enough to retain people (it retained me for a while...) but it really does skew the demographics and doesn't exactly promote equal opportunity.
What really annoys me is that they absolutely will not pay employees a market rate, yet will pay contractors a market rate, at all levels.
Plus, the endless tolerance for fly-by-night people in leadership positions on crazy day rates. -

It was both a big deal and a disappointment, as the latest report was the first time they directly addressed that "demand side reductions" i.e. buying less shit would be a solution but they cut it out the summary for policy makers and no one reads the full report

Dreadful crash at the LVV today, plenty on Twitter. Hoping everyone involved is ok.
-
• #76234
Bloody hell, that was awful, reports looking promising though. Fingers crossed for all involved.

No spectators needed hospital treatment is the latest report, incredible considering what happened.

Could have very easily been a fatality, like you say, incredible.

While all tories can get in the sea. Dorries on twitter ignoring her own online hate campaign is an absolute hilarious own goal and shoes just how incompetent she is. Actually that's an insult to even the most incompetent of people.

The background briefing from Team Rishi is that Liz Truss has been obsessed with the idea of regional pay boards for years and everyone in government had said "fuck off that's mental".
-

Doesn't really align well with 'levelling up' the North (unless she was going to pay them more than Londoners and I doubt that very much!).

Liz Truss represents South West Norfolk.
Let her start by forgoing, let's say, 25% of her Ministerial salary. -

It's already dead. We've moved onto her team briefing that people misrepresented a written statement on the 'policy'

It's also ignorant of the fact that grade inflation in the public sector is already a thing, beyond London weighting. Matching jobs to national payscales is an art not a science.

It's good that she's already perfected the prime ministerial U-turn.

Still - it's going to play well with the retired gammons in Surrey who have the final vote. Doubt they worry about nurses in Hull getting a paycut.

But those same people will pop outside for 5 minutes and bang some pans and then be angry that not everyone is joining in. #cognitivedissonance

Can't decide whether it's better to have Truss fuck everything up to give Starmer a chance, or to have Rishi do whatever he does. I suppose we'll get Truss and there will be riots about food and energy prices and she'll call the army out. What a shame that those water cannon which Boris bought have beem scrapped.
