"why do you keep crashing?" took some thinking up

I find the interviewers (both in F1 and on the tour) were constantly putting answers in their subjects mouths. It really irks me. Some open questions would be nice where the subject has room to offer something better than yes / no - platitude would be good.
-
• #9229
Maybe their subjects don't want that room though IDK.

a lot of folks who are happy he's not dominating any more
I think as anthonyj said he came into his element after leaving Ferrari so not exactly his prime. Maybe i missed out on his personality first time round but i don't think me liking him more now has got anything to do with him not winning. Likewise i'd give more credit to Lewis and Michael, they just got more likeable as they got older IMO. My girlfriend has just started following Seb who has just come onto Instagram, will be interesting to see what he posts over the rest of the season!
Also, speaking of liking things i didn't before that you're a fan of... Ferrari, ignoring the multi billion dollar corporate monster that they are it's like a following a rookie Nascar team and i'm really enjoying/getting behind them. Really hope Charles Trickle's luck changes.

And the questionable sponsors ... petrochemical, banking, crypto, questionable data mining, private jets, and cigarettes

Another clip in common space between "shit interview questions" and "shit, Vettel's leaving", loved this one. Always nice to see respect between rivals:

Naturally everyone has different takes on this, and of course being a Ferrari fan I took to him as soon as he joined (mostly as he was no longer ruining the chances of a Ferrari WDC, 2010 and 2012 were damn rough final races to watch, maybe not quite as bad as 2008 of course).
I figured that his comedic shit-stirring with the Merc duo while they were at each other's throats would've been where people started to change their opinion but can understand there's probably also an element of his popularity increasing in this part of the world when he was no longer a Hamilton rival. Much like I came to like him more as he stopped being a Ferrari rival.
Being a Ferrari fan these days is an odd one, I'm naturally hoping for the best results for the drivers while acknowledging the consistent clusterfucks produced by the team at large. And with no interest of defending them in that regard as they're utter shite. Maybe I'm a shit fan though. I'd always say I'm more a fan of the sport in general than a particular team/driver, and I'll take something that's for the good of the sport over something that's good for my current favourite team/driver.
I'd be more than happy for Merc to make it a three-way battle at the front (well, two-way after Ferrari screw themselves over each time), even though we'll then be dealing with a resurgence in Hamilton/Russell mania with the British press. And we'll likely see a resurgence of the toxic fair-weather fans who are currently a little dormant (from both Merc & RB camps) if Max and Lewis start going head-to-head again.

Is there an F1 team this doesn't apply to?
Maybe Haas, RB & Torro Rosso are the least bad but I'm sure there's still money coming in from all sorts of dodgy channels.

• #9235
Well that was a surprise…

Wow, that came out of nowhere. Outqualifying the favourites on pure pace. Really happy for him!

Just caught the highlights, and while it looks like Perez fell foul to Magnussen on on the apex at turn 2, but was he also put out of position by being (wrongly) told his lap time was invalid for track limits? Looks like pretty rough luck there!
Fair play to Russell also! Looks like both Ferraris had scrappy final laps which didn't help (well, didn't help them) either.

Think this is the biggest show of this season's improvements to the regulations. Hungary actually looks to be bringing an interesting race this year. Oddly cold too, normally pushing 40 or so for this race.

Are you fucking serious Ferrari?

Vettel better be replacing that team. It's the only way I can see anything positive happening for them in the coming years.

To be fair I don’t see how it could be any worse so hopefully they’ve now hit rock bottom. They may however still have something spectacularly awful up their sleeves.
Great drives by everyone on the podium though!

Alonso signed to Aston Martin from 2023 on a "multi-year deal"
-
• #9247
Hoping this is because he thinks the car will become more competitive and not just so he can remain in F1 for a few more years. Big backwards step ATM.
-
• #9248
I utterly love the guy, but "King of the shite career moves" strikes again
Though in all honesty, he was only signed on until the end of this season right? There's only so long Alpine can have Piastri on ice before he gets cold feet so to speak. Don't think it was an Alonso decision to leave Alpine.
not just so he can remain in F1 for a few more years
I'd bet on this. Aston have taken a solid top-of-the-midfield team and brought them right to the back.

This season has just been such a horrible self-own by Ferrari. It’s painful to watch tbh. They have a fantastic performing (and looking) car, two world class drivers and all the money in the world and they’ve conspired to utterly fuck the whole thing up at almost every decision point. Appalling cock up.

I think the principles they expressed earlier in the season prevent them from making the tough decisions required to fight for the win. Now it's probably too late with the 80 point deficit and Merc seemingly back in the game.
Still, the season has been wild so far, so who knows what will happen after the break.
Well what are they meant to ask? "Congrats on the win, how do we solve the energy crisis?"
