• EGR. Inlet manifold needed cleaned too. Swirl flaps out at the same time, new oil, air, cabin and fuel filters, oil change, coolant flush.
Just needs a brake and suspension refresh, then mapped and I think that’ll stop me looking at 330ds for a while at least.

  • Check the egr cooler for leaks, usually small amounts of antifreeze can leak causing soot to stick to it all, also check the oil breather system as excess oil can also do the same, might be worth removing the inlet manifold for walnut blasting of the inlet tracks .

  • Mechanic managed a half decent clean of the inlet which seemed enough for me. I bought the car at 76k miles, one owner, 17 ish years old, so I suspect it just did a lot of short journeys which will have contributed to the build up as well. The average MPG on the trip computer was 28 or something when I first bought it, lol. Sits at 45 now as I try and avoid using it for any short journeys so hopefully it will be a bit happier now.
