I think all the super cheap OEM groups Wiggle etc. had were all coming from EU grey market and I’m sure Poland was mentioned as a main source. Thanks Brexit.

Was Di2 always this expensive? I'm sure I didn't pay these prices for my stuff.
R8070 pricing has been quite steady even with brexit etc. GRX mad pricey, 105 Di2 same, 12 speed ultegra also same.

I might have some GRX or maybe 105 in the workshop, remind me to look tomorrow.
-
• #8705
If not and they're in stock I'm happy to order and send them to you for a few beers over cost.
-
• #8706
Maybe that's it. So now it's retail packaging only perhaps?
-
• #8707
I don't remember what I paid for my GRX shifters but I don't remember going "how fucking much?!" when I bought them.

Thanks.
She tried my GRX and Ultregra and prefers the smoother Ultegra hoods. Are there smoother aftermarket hoods for GRX, I wonder?
If I've already got older series 11s Di2 RD and FD lying around, presumably I could get battery, cables, Junc A and B and then use 105 Di2 shifters? Are they backward compat or will I have to find older shifters?

There's too many part swaps going on in my head. I think from now on I should just buy new, complete bikes only.
-
• #8710
Assuming the 105 use the new thinner wires, there's adapters

Ta. Shape looks much more like my Ultregra shifters so should be nicer than her huge 105 mechanical shifters.
I still have a pair of the old R785 shifters lying around that I could give her but they're pretty worn now so I was just going to keep them for spares. I guess I could replace the rubber hoods on them to make them a bit nicer.

Just tested again with smaller cassette. It definitely shifted better when I tuned it with the original Shimano cable in place. I reckon either the newer cable is worse (it's full length outer so ALL THE DRAG), the RD is a bit bent or the 105 mechanical shifter is worn.

Anyone used a Stronglight chainring as a replacement on a Shimano 105 5800 groupset? Getting the direct replacement is quite hard at the mo but the below looks like it will work and be cheaper

Am I right in thinking that I can use a 10s GRX rear derailleur with 11 speed Ultegra shifters and an 11 speed cassette?
-
• #8716
They use the same pull ratio, yeah.

Slight extension on the above, 11speed GRX shifter, Deore M5120 mech and 10 speed cassette... Will this work via a Jtek Shiftmate 5?
Reason for 11sp GRX is it would leave the option to upgrade to 11sp cassette when the 10 I own wears out.... I think. 11sp MTB spacing = 10sp spacing +1 right?
Their comparability chart includes the below.

Zinn used to be good resource for this but cant find anything on 12 speed.
Will a 12 speed shimano cassette work with Rival AXS with the fucky chain (which I think is a requirement for the chainrings)?
-
• #8719
Why not just use AXS derailleurs in Shimano drivetrain?
-
• #8720
thats a fucking good idea too! BUUUUUUT i want the axs chainring gear ratios, shimano only offers them in GRX 10 speed version i think.
i am just trying to avoid changing the freehub
-
• #8721
Aye I've been wanting to do this too. Shimano 12 speed road cassette and chain with axs mechs would be ideal but sram are cunts. The chainrings are supposed to be only compatible with flat top chains... I think I seen someone on weight weenies saying they had mixed and matched without issue but I don't really believe they would mesh without any issues.

are https://www.swinnertoncycles.co.uk/ legit? Anyone bought from them?
They are the only place that has a right hand force axs hrd shifter that I need. -
• #8723
Yeah I've used them before, set of tyres I think. Nothing negative to report.
-
• #8724
Thanks, they don’t sound great on trustpilot but a lot more positive on reviews.co.uk.
I’ll take a punt

I bought a hub from them a couple of years ago, and had no issues
Can you buy a pair of mechanical hydro shifters (105, Ultegra, etc) without having to buy the calipers with them?
Same question for Di2 shifters. I can only find £400+ box sets of shifters and calipers (https://www.merlincycles.com/shimano-ultegra-r8070-di2-hydraulic-disc-sti-levers-r8070-flat-mount-disc-calipers-11-speed-130479.html £550!). So to fit this shit to the Sequoia would be pretty spendy given battery is another 160 quid, FD and RD are probably £500 or some shit.
Was Di2 always this expensive? I'm sure I didn't pay these prices for my stuff.
