I was told that a sectional was the most secure- simple as that.
Also, we have power ahead of the sectional install tomorrow:

What’s the problem?
-
• #181
My understanding was that the frame was going to be behind the brick pillars, so the door would be the width of the entire opening- it’s not, I lose some to the frame now, but I do get a longer garage and the two doors will look more homogeneous I suppose. I’ve got 20cm per side clearance for he car so I probably don’t need it to be wider.
-
• #182
Ah, yeah I can see how that would be an issue.
Mine sits behind the pillars, it’s a double so no issues with width anyway but I assumed that was the norm…
With this and the other issue, it doesn't sound like the sales guy listened at all.
-
• #183
I think he listened, he just didn’t write on the order form what we discussed!
I’m just excited about the doors at the moment, but will need to discuss this with the firm once everything is complete.

I think it'll look great and 20cm either side is loads. You should probable give up your license if you can't park it with that amount of room :)

Email from Access- I paraphrase, but essentially it says “sucks to be you”.
Shame, as the doors are nice.

Looks fantastic, I can't wait till we have finished the house and I can do our garages.
Would you recommend Access (the company)?

The guy who fitted the doors was very good, I think - although I've only cycled the door up and down a few times, so I'm basing that purely on the fact that we didn't have doors, he turned up, we now have doors.
I will report on how they bed in, and what (if any) teething issues we have.
It's indisputable that what I have had installed is not what I discussed with the salesman, and that this wasn't a cheap project - invoice was £5,700 for the pair.
20% of that is still outstanding - it's possible that they'll offer a discount based on getting both doors wrong, but early indications are not promising.
If they shoulder some responsibility for what I have not being what I ordered then I'd probably recommend them overall - but if they refuse to accept that they made mistakes then that would be a different situation.
Should you use them I'd recommend validating every line on the quote hasn't drifted from the original spec/been entered wrongly.
I'll update as/when I get anything that I think germane.

Not cheap indeed. If you don't mind me asking, are there special features to these doors that bump the price up or is this just what it costs?

Made to measure, steel frames with 47mm thick insulated panels, including the electrical operator for the up and over.
But nothing truly custom/special in there- I did get prices from another couple of places which were slightly higher, but would be unsurprised to hear I missed somewhere that does them super cheaply.

Strongly recommend one of these by the way.
Integration to google / Apple home automation.
I use it for a few things:
- Garage open / close notifications
- Avoiding carrying the fob with me when out
- Connect open to light activation (requires smart bulbs / light switches)
- Auto close setting for if you forget to shut it - mine is set to 15 mins
- Garage open / close notifications

Mind. Blown.

No wall button I’m afraid.

I guess the extra frame width rules out future RWB style wide body kit

? It plugs into the motor at the top.
-
• #196
Yep, I would also recommend the meross kit, have had mine installed for a couple of years, has never gone wrong. The only issue I can see is I think it needs WiFi and not sure if you have WiFi down there?
-
• #197
Oh yeah - forgot it needed Wi-Fi.
Get around 750Mbps Wi-Fi in my garage. Probably enough 😅
Run cat6 along the power line and put a mesh puck in there? Going to need it for YouTube / streaming cycling etc.

I have ordered one- shall have a play, thanks for the recommendation

Can I open Apple HomeKit? Can I bollocks, permanently loading accessories and scenes and can’t be reset.

The doors look great.
Might be easier to wheel stuff in and out. I wouldn’t worry about it. Though im sure you will.
