  • I’m with you. I’ve slept next to mine in the back of the van. They stink and stab you with pointy metal bits when you wake up for a piss in the night.

  • So to be clear: the side angle was just to gauge how much material I would need at an angle.

    Sod the bike crush risk.

  • I like that cord tightener thing. Is there anything much smaller which does the same job with fishing line?

  • Wah wah wah fishing line would garrotte you wah wah wah

  • It's not for putting round my neck. (It's for bicycle mudguards, instead of the usual stays.)

  • Those Nite Ize cam thingies look great, not cheap not expensive and maybe more useful than I can imagine.

  • So I bought a bag of twenty of them about five years ago from some Instagram advert thingy and I've still not used one of them... I still maintain they're possibly the most useful thing I own but I just continually forget to put them any place I might want them (boot of car/ van/ backpacks etc.)

I'm going to go and do it now that I'm reminded.

  • Thinking about using my CG125 for green lanes, to do that I need to fix some bits on the engine and frame, so starting to look at tools. Any recommendations for a good quality socket set?! Halfords advanced stuff has good reviews

  • Halfords advanced is lifetime warrantied. It will do you a good service. Heard of people abusing the kit and still having the replacements honoured.

Can’t wait to see what you do on a CG. Will be doing something similar on Sunday if a mate is up for it.

  • I have used my Halfords advanced stuff on tractors, heavily abused it, it rarely breaks, and if it does it is really straightforward to replace.

  • I have some Halfords stuff from 20 years ago and it's still fine.

  • Find some with a trade card for a discount.

  • Seems to have down in quality since replacing my nicked kit. Mainly the ratchet spanners.

  • New seat and tail kit.

Up next I'm going to redo the main harness and try to clean up behind the headlight. As it is now it's a heartless mess of wires rubbing against each other.

  • Headed west for the weekend, Essex the Cheltenham.
Nice run on the Explorer (motorway miles disappeared in the mirrors) then got lost twice in the last 6 miles.

  • Looking great! Please tell me you lock that to the ground.

@Soul think I asked this before, but looking for high quality helmet audio. My Arai isn’t loud, but it has deep buffeting. What you using for audio?

  • Things don't get lifted like that around here. Now that you mention it, though, I should really lock the steering column more.

  • around here

    Where??

  • Deep in the Midwestern united states.

  • Motikom mplus

Can’t fault it. Excellent headset that makes riding so much more comfortable.

  • Turns out that 3x3m of ripstop nylon is absolutely palatial.

Made up a tarp yesterday with two 1.5x3m pieces. Central seam and lots of toggle points. Bungees to the tree and bike.

Since the mate on the 990 is supposed to fit underneath as well, 3x3 would be more than enough space for two people and kit, and still fold underneath as a ground mat.

Might see about a separate groundsheet and a 1.5x2m tarp for less space and smaller overall size.

Not the worst sleep outside. I was actually incredibly hot all night. I thought I’d be cold but I was certainly not that.

  • Are you on the lam already?

  • Looks idyllic, screw camping out in the winter anyway. How are you finding the louder exhaust for trail riding? Being my first proper summer on the lanes I'm still getting used to how much 'traffic' there can be.
