  • a lot of folks who are happy he's not dominating any more

I think as anthonyj said he came into his element after leaving Ferrari so not exactly his prime. Maybe i missed out on his personality first time round but i don't think me liking him more now has got anything to do with him not winning. Likewise i'd give more credit to Lewis and Michael, they just got more likeable as they got older IMO. My girlfriend has just started following Seb who has just come onto Instagram, will be interesting to see what he posts over the rest of the season!

Also, speaking of liking things i didn't before that you're a fan of... Ferrari, ignoring the multi billion dollar corporate monster that they are it's like a following a rookie Nascar team and i'm really enjoying/getting behind them. Really hope Charles Trickle's luck changes.

And the questionable sponsors ... petrochemical, banking, crypto, questionable data mining, private jets, and cigarettes

  • Naturally everyone has different takes on this, and of course being a Ferrari fan I took to him as soon as he joined (mostly as he was no longer ruining the chances of a Ferrari WDC, 2010 and 2012 were damn rough final races to watch, maybe not quite as bad as 2008 of course).

I figured that his comedic shit-stirring with the Merc duo while they were at each other's throats would've been where people started to change their opinion but can understand there's probably also an element of his popularity increasing in this part of the world when he was no longer a Hamilton rival. Much like I came to like him more as he stopped being a Ferrari rival.

Being a Ferrari fan these days is an odd one, I'm naturally hoping for the best results for the drivers while acknowledging the consistent clusterfucks produced by the team at large. And with no interest of defending them in that regard as they're utter shite. Maybe I'm a shit fan though. I'd always say I'm more a fan of the sport in general than a particular team/driver, and I'll take something that's for the good of the sport over something that's good for my current favourite team/driver.

I'd be more than happy for Merc to make it a three-way battle at the front (well, two-way after Ferrari screw themselves over each time), even though we'll then be dealing with a resurgence in Hamilton/Russell mania with the British press. And we'll likely see a resurgence of the toxic fair-weather fans who are currently a little dormant (from both Merc & RB camps) if Max and Lewis start going head-to-head again.
