  • But I'm just jealous. I like building tourer bikes starting from vintage mountainbike frames myself, but this year I won't be able to do a bike tour, I'm afraid.

  • To be honest, I'm not quite sure about moving away from drops. Was originally looking at something like a Jones bar for multiple hand positions, but didn't want to spend too much.

Sometimes stuff gets in the way of cycling, but I'm sure you'll be touring again soon enough!

  • I just like straight classic mtb bars.

Yeah, guess so. I'll probably be touring before Autumn comes. Won't survive winter if not. When are you leaving?

  • When are you leaving?

    Saturday. 😱

  • Enjoy!

  • I'm not saying you can't climb mountains in your vertical position, just saying it's less efficient.

nah, I've dropped plenty of stretched out carbon gravel bros whilst sitting bolt upright wearing crocs

  • How are we sure it's not the Crocs though.

  • 😁

  • Did my local mountain pass today after work. It went okay.

  • solid effort, how was the altitude sickness at the top?

  • I had to lie down for a bit, which was actually quite pleasant.

  • Lovely bit of scenery there! How’s the bike feeling up the slopes?

  • It's an old land fill. 🀷

Bike felt great, though it was unloaded. 26" wheels with a 26x40 low gear is going to make for some pretty chill uphills I reckon.

  • Chrchrchrchr

    Awesome build, lovely details 🫢🏻

  • I remember racing a Benelux-cup race on an old landfill, back in the nineties. Believe it was Oss.

  • a triumphant build indeed! how are you liking the thumbies?
i find them really quite nice to use, i have them set a bit closer to the grips than you do so i can flick the r/h lever with the top of my hand when in the middle of the block, almost like a gripshift

  • I like 'em! It's a different experience, but it's nice to have all the controls at your finger tips.

  • Last minute maintenance...

  • Hello again. Germany was great. I wrote down some stuff, together with some pictures:

    A few highlights:

  • What gifts did you and @Tijmen take for the baby Jesus?

  • how did the gearing / bike hold up??

slow, low and comfy I assume?

A Wit Slingers hip bag, so he could be carried around like a baby kangaroo.

Pretty great. Gearing was a joy. Only one pinch flat. Bike ate up everything I threw at it.

With the new bags, the bike was a lot easier and more fun to ride. I think my average speed went up quite a bit too, probably because I wasn't stuffing 40L of panniers full of things I don't really need.

Not completely sold on the cockpit. Might be these particular bars, or the setup. Or I might just prefer drops. Was definitely looking for some more hand positions at times.

  • "With the new bags, the bike was a lot easier and more fun to ride"

This needs to be quoted on the bagmaker's website

  • Love it!
