Avoiding spoilers: Anyone catch the TV gaffe when the banner said that a driver who DNF got P1, and they mixed up the names of the drivers in P2 and P3?
Not the slickest production, this GP.

Brought back great memories of the Lastname brothers battling in Australia 2018 that did

I'm busy wondering what the 'T' stands for. Terence? Trevor? Tamara? Timothy? Timothée? The mind boggleth. Well, mind does anyway.

Ferrari gonna Ferrari eh?

Never heard a driver scream in frustration like that before. Would not like to be in the Ferrari garage when Leclerc comes back
-
• #9207
That really sounded awful. I wonder if it actually was a car issue or driver error
-
• #9208
I'm betting car, Leclerc is always the first to throw himself under the bus when he makes a mistake

Same pedal issue as last race apparently according to Bulgarian commentators.
Merc race pace looks good. If both Hamilton and verstappen go for a one stop and no more safety car then merc should catch later in race as RB tyres degrade. Fingers crossed for a nice battle between the two!

Fucking LOL at Ferrari asking him to come in while he's wheel-to-wheel
-
• #9211
Also lol at Perez-Russel round 2

I'm not fully convinced that pitting Sainz was a clever move with only 10 laps to go. I feel like it's a club of clowns at this point
-
• #9213
Baffling that they let him battle for a few laps throwing away a good 5-10 seconds or so, then brought him in. I mean, completely expected, but still amazingly inept as usual.

Russell absolutely in the right there IMO. On the flip-side, it's almost a carbon copy of the early Verstappen on Hamilton move at Abu Dhabi last year.
Should be a good opportunity for the FIA to get their finger out about getting some consistency in the rules here. Helps that Russell is head of the GPDA as far as I'm aware.
On the plus side, managed to get all my F1 reddit predictions right with a Leclerc pole, Verstappen win and Merc on the podium. So that's something!

shame, he's been quite outspoken about the hypocrisy of F1 and the FIA and its incosistant ways
he seemed to loose the plot at Ferrari under the pressure, and once out of it, he became himself, a cheeky relaxed chap who said what he thought.

Aston are not likely to turn into a winning team soon so I suppose he wonders what the point is, scrapping with a team mate for 1 point.
Shame as current Vettel is far more interesting than when he was at Red Bull
-
• #9218
Possible that removing himself from the circus he can be more outspoken about things with slightly less of the 'but you're part of it, you can't comment'. Or he's going to start racing fixie crits around the world.

Agreed, i was never a fan before but he's been gold with Aston. Hulkenberg to be promoted from reserve driver?

I think this is the biggest loss IMO. At least we still have Alonso and Hamilton in that regard.
Just praying he's taking on the role of Ferrari's strategy department

Again, massive Vettel/Ferrari bias here, but his press conferences in 2016 with Hamilton and Rosberg were absolute gold at times. To be fair even at Red Bull he was hilarious in the press conferences.

I don't think it's just me he's grown on in recent years, i think his popularity has universally increased which means there was obviously something about him that people didn't warm to before.
I do think he deserves a lot of credit for bringing some drivers out of there shell at conferences. He could get Lewis to relax and make a joke or two which is no small feat. My girlfriend and I were actually saying during the last race how much the sport is benefitting from the old guard atm so it'll be a big loss when he goes.

There's definitely a lot of folks who are happy he's not dominating any more. It happened with Schumacher, it happened with Hamilton. Domination is dull for the sport and folks are happy when it stops.
Also, that fucking finger when he was at Red Bull...
Was just watching this one a few days back:

Which then led to this:

And of course, the ultimate classic:

I think age (and success) gives them the permission to come out of the media-training mode so many younger drivers (Max excluded) seem to be stuck in. Was watching the tour, f1 and even some cricket recently and 80% of the interviews I could have done instead of the athlete as they were so bland and full of meaningless platitudes.

Doesn't help that the lines of questioning are complete shit a lot of the time.
Ha! Yes, I remember. I suspect his buying absolution from the Revenue might be a tad more difficult.
