Ratty / tired bike to get around

Hey,
I’m looking for a bike that can be used as a lock up bike around London.
Can be very tatty in terms of the looks.
Would be great if it worked well though. 57cm ish or 18”ish when it comes to frame sizes.
I would like to have at least few gears so maybe an older mtb?
A rack would be wonderful but it’s pushing my luck.

Not sure if this would suit set up as a single speed, but fits me well and I usually use a 56-58cm frame. Could swap out pedals, bars and grips for a more ratty look and price:

How about my rat looking for £50 im 6 ft .its got 5×3 gears all working .apart from noisy front brakes
