Oh too bad ! Yeah the respray is crazy expensive, don't do that... Maybe you should find a guy who is willing to do it off the book for a good price. Don't loose hope, you've got a truly a marvellous bike that's highly collectible too (last frame sold for close to 3k$ on eBay).
By the way I just put my hands on a ex-team bike Panasonic Sportlife 1991 from rider Menno Vink. Sadly the paintjob suffered some loss mainly on the fork crown where the under layer of chrome is now exposed. I will seize this opportunity to restore it in a Kintsugi style with patch of gold leaves and varnish the whole frame again.
Can't wait to see yours back on the road again :)

O, nice find, @chat_rose ! So there's still early nineties PR6000's out there. Yours has the same pro team specific features as mine (regular shop sold bikes didn't have them): the extended seat tube collar and the "perforated" headset spacer ring.
Can I ask you for a favour? In case you take the forks out of the frame, can you weight them for me? Forks that came with my frame look like Prestige forks but weight a ton. Thanks!
don't remind me of it...
The sprayer suddenly decided to retire so had to look for another one. Didn't found one yet that fits the bill. Prices are outrageous: up to 700 € for a respray.
