  • Well, I didn't need much convincing, thanks for the input I'm going to go and see one in person and hopefully do a test ride.

  • Two things I just remembered...

    1) I personally found the Gatorskins combined with the disc brakes of the Goldhawk to be a bit skiddy. But that may have changed, and your mileage may vary. I currently run Durano DDs, which are better for me.

    2) The front chainring is (or was) a narrow-wide that I believe Jeff had machined for him by "First" or "First Group" (?) This was fine until it wore out and had to be replaced by my local shop in Brighton (excessive riding over the years on my part). The replacement wasn't a proper narrow-wide, and on occasion the chain could come off. It wasn't until I plunked down for a 1x Shimano GRX groupset that the whole situation resolved itself very nicely, and gave me better gearing (read: easier!) than I'd had before.

    A couple of gotchas, and nothing that puts you off I hope.
