    I would never use one ever. tipping over, heat from the engine, gross place to be, crappy shelter anyway.

    It's not that hard or expensive to set up a complete tarp or even carry a legitimate tent/bivy.

    They have acceptable shelter tarps on Amazon and MSR has great poles for the Cost of of beers and dinner.

  • Just experimenting for the time being. My 2.5kg tent would suffice, but I want to see about roughing it with the bivi bag for the first time in years. A tarp is just an extra, so it’s more about whether a 3x3 is a better size to set up proper.

    As far as options for purchase, I have oodles of ripstop material so I’m keen to DIY for now.
