I don't go that way an awful lot but I would definitely avoid riding near the A3.
I'd probably add a little extra distance and cut down to Kingston and go via Esher. You could stop there at the Giro cafe.
The little section near Denbies before box hill is a shared use path but with lovely views of the vineyard, not to be missed imo. Also riding through battersea is a bit grim, I would go back through Chelsea personally
You could probably chop off the bit from Chobham and go straight to Box hill though, avoiding the crocknorth climb but it's a nice climb if you're up for the extra distance
